  2. Going to sell both Versys...I hate too, but the main reason for the Vstrom is to get down to only 1 bike....Melonie is not riding on her own anymore.....
  3. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I've now got a week, and 1600 miles in with my Vstrom.... I bought it a week ago Saturday, and ride it last weekend to break it in, then changed the oil, and filter. Headed down thru West Virginia on 2 lanes and stopped at Fancy Gap, Va. for the night, then down the BRP to the end, and to Robbinsville...Then back home here in Ohio. I bought the bike for a sport touring use, I had a FJR, and never really "connected" with it..I didn't like the ergo's, it was top heavy...just never liked it, most/lots of people love them though. I have no intentions doing any "off roading/gravel etc. with the Vee. I lowered it with adjustable links, and that all I've done to it. My wife actually steered me to it, because she said the passenger seat looked comfortable, and she says it is. We have 2 Kawasaki Versys also, though she is done riding on her own. The Versys is a tie with Gen1 Yamaha FZ1's as my favorite motorcycle in 40+ years of riding...but the Vstrom is right there also. The only "issue" I have is that in dirty air behind a semi, the wind buffets the bike side to side some..I have the windshield in the highest setting, maybe that's it.... After 1600+ miles I love the Vstrom. I like the engine, the ergo's, the storage, and the handling...so far so good
  4. I'll be riding down tomorrow with a couple of friends.................

  7. After a few hundred miles in s.e. Ohio today on the Vstrom, I can say I like it a lot.....Kinda like a Versys with more power, although a "weird" power band I think....it has very little low end power for a litre bike (or maybe way tall gearing), when it hits 4K hang on. 6th gear is worthless under 65mph..That aside, it handles better than I can ride it, is very comfortable to me anyway, plenty of storage.....Looks like it will do a good job replacing 2 bikes !!!!
  8. Well an old favorite.... RT685 from RT78 to RT13 now has new pavement.....best roller coaster ride in Ohio !!!!
  9. Here's what I'll be riding at the Gap next weekend...We are selling both Versys since my wife is not riding anymore. I have kicked around what to buy for 2up riding, and riding alone, that would be light enough, and have decent handling, and power, I have considered a DL1000 for a while, and bought a new DL1000 Adventure today at Iron Pony...I really like it so far...
  10. Hope to see everybody down there......we'll be there 9-10 Staying in Robbinsville at Microtel

  12. Robbinsville N.C. Best roads anywhere, I love the mountains.....I've always wanted to live there. Now....If you had to work......might be a problem.
  13. Since I have my Gen1 FZ1, and my Versys (both standard bikes), and I ride the Versys 95% of the time.....I think I would like to trade the FZ1 for something else of equal value.... A Honda VFR, a FJR, Ducati ST3,ST4, Multistrada, The FZ1 is a perfect Gen1 all stock with mew PR2's, black/yellow with only 7500 miles. I figure it's worth 4500.00 Let me know of any interesting trades along those lines....
  14. Welcome from Newark..............
  15. I'm with everbody else....my Gen1 FZ1 is one of my favorite bikes ever !!! Can't go wrong with one.

I can't get into any motorcycle with a "chair" on it.......Or pulling a trailer with a motorcycle (something which should be against the law IMO)... If you want something that big, I say drive a car...
  18. I sat on it at Cleveland... I like the ergo's of those type bikes. It's not meant to be any kind of "off road" bike...I see bikes like this (Versys, V Strom etc.) being the "standard" bike of today. I like my Versys a lot...It suits me fine, Kawasaki lists it as a sportbike, as opposed to the sportbikes being listed as "supersports"...I've put many 500+ mile days both on my Gen1 FZ1, and the Versys....two of my favorite bikes ever. The Versys will cruise at 80+ on the interstate with no problem, and is great in the twisties....
  19. Awsome bike.......I'll own one someday....
