Yeah, definitely. I'd be really interested in heading down further South sometime to check out some other roads. The Speedie's comfortable enough to go all day
-
Great ride guys. Everyone made it back to Canton in one piece, and (I hope) had fun on 164. Nice meeting everyone. We'll have to do another one soon!
-
True, SE Ohio > other parts of Ohio (at least for roads). Where did you guys wind up going? 536, 556, etc?
-
Worrying about being fast or slow is a good way to get into trouble (as I must remind myself again every year). OH-164 is definitely a 'ride your own pace' kind of road, but honestly, it's good fun at just about any speed. Plus there are plenty of places to wait up for people. Come on out, it should be a great time.

Ok, I'm definitely in for Sunday. I've got no problems meeting up at Starbucks or wherever else, but I'll be wearing my leathers, so I won't be lounging around.
-
I've ridden the OH-164 part of this route countless times and know the roads pretty well. I'll check my schedule for Sunday. If I'm free, I'd have no problems leading a group through that section at whatever pace people feel like going.
-
I rode 536 a month or so ago. Definitely not my kind of road. It was interesting, but struck me as the kind of road that would bite really hard with any kind of speed.
-
I've had both Akra and Arrow pipes before (had an Akra on my 600RR) and they are both excellent for both fit/finish and sound. I'd go with which ever you can get a good deal on. Next week is Golden Week (national holiday) in Japan, so it's unlikely you'll be hearing anything from Arata any sooner than that, and with a 1~2 month wait time, I'd go with something else.

A riding buddy of mine had a Z1000 and could really make it haul through the twisities. Never really mentioned wind protection, but there isn't much there. If you're looking for something similar with better protection, I've really enjoyed the FZ1 for longer trips. It definitely doesn't have the streetfighter look quite like the Z, but it's a good compromise for sport/comfort and an upright position.

I ride with a phone only in case I run into trouble. Operating a vehicle while texting should be grounds for instant license suspension, IMO.
-
Yeah, that's me. Too bad about Warner selling his bike. I'm really liking the Triumph. The motor in this thing is about the best I've ever ridden - pulls like crazy from any RPM and the sound is incredible. Weather for Sat/Sun is looking pretty crappy, but I'll keep my eye on the forecast.
-
If the weather looks ok, I'm up for Saturday morning.
-
I personally will never ride without a helmet for even that short of a distance. Most accidents happen on short trips around town like that, and a slight inconvience just isn't worth it to me.
-
Yeah, I'm digging this forecast. If it holds out my wife and I will probably be taking the FZ to West Virginia this weekend. I'm thinking we might head straight down 800 and work our way over to Morgantown.
-
Speaking of that... My wife and I will be headed down to Morgantown, WV next weekend, and the weather forecast is looking so good I'm thinking that we're taking the FZ. I would definitely be up for heading down 800 to 536 and making our river crossing there. If the forecast holds out I'll make a thread in the Cleveland forum.

Nice pictures! MadMax, jbot, and myself were on quite a few of those roads yesterday too. The gravel on 164 was pretty surprising, but fortunately our pace was pretty sane through that section so no trouble.
-
Ouch, guy's lucky to be alive. One of the few things that I will never do for any reason is ride a motorcycle after drinking.
-
Yep. Was a good ride thanks to a little discretion on MadMax's part. You did a great job leading the way. 164 was still a good time, and I had an absolute blast with you guys on OH-9 on the way back. Great to meet you guys and looking forward to more even longer rides further South.
-
Sounds good. Looks like a couple of my buddies are going to show up too, so we should have at least 4~5. Sorry about confusing the meeting place. We'll swing by the Marathon first (I know the ony you're talking about now), and then check out the Speedway on the way out just in case I screwed anybody up. Looks like it's going to be a gorgeous day.
-
I'll check this in the morning, but as of now I'm going to plan on being at the Speedway or McDonalds (depending on how much I need coffee) on OH-212 (exit 93 off I-77) in Bolivar at around 10:30 tommorrow morning for the ride and plan on heading out at 11:00. I'll be on a white Speed Triple, probably wearing my leathers.
-
Alright, S3 got a new tune yesterday and is running considerably better, and the weather looks like it's going to be perfect. We've got the meeting time set @ 10:30, but what's the locale? I read something about a Dairy Queen, but I just want to make sure. I typically hit I-77 exit 93 in Bolivar and gas up at the Speedway next to Mickie-D's headed East on 212. I don't really care about the route, but I do have a pretty good one in mind that'll take ~3 hours and spit us out in East Canton.
-
Indeed If I ever decide that I want another pure sportbike, the 675 is going to be high on that list.

2005 CBR600RR (Sold as of a couple weeks ago to a nice guy in Uniontown - I just like the picture a lot): 2003 FZ1 (My 2-up couch w/ removable hard bags): 2006 Triumph Speed Triple (Newest Addition - Makes me want to do bad things):
-
Unless something really unforseen comes up, I'm in for Saturday down South. I might even have a couple of friends that want to come along.
-
Sounds good. My favorite route is I77 to Bolivar - 212 to Leestown - 164 to Lisbon - 172 to East Canton then back home. Takes about 3~4 hours from the S. Akron/Canton area and makes for a pretty good warm-up/cool-down before and after 164. I know there are tons of great roads down there, so if someone else has a better route, I'm always up for it.
