REPORTER: Before your election to public office, you were a lawyer. Is one more lawyer really what Washington needs?
OBAMA: It depends on what the meaning of the word "is" is.
At a campaign stop, a voter questioned candidate Obama.
"I'm poor and unemployed, with no formal education," he said. "What will happen to me if you are elected?"
"If I am elected," said Obama, "you will receive the formal education you deserve, free of charge. The government will make sure you have a job if you want one. But even if you choose not to work, you will receive a comfortable income and all the luxuries that the rich enjoy."
The voter thought for a moment. "I want super powers, too."
"You've got it."
Waiting backstage before a Presidential debate, Barack Obama and John McCain shared some candid thoughts with each other.
"You know," said McCain, "the reporters have been pretty hard on us. In fact, they've been critical of all politicians -- treating us as if we are a bunch of crooks." He paused and shook his head sadly. "Despite all the cynicism, though, there IS a way to be an honest politician."
"What way is that?" asked Obama.
"Hmmph," said McCain, "well, of course YOU wouldn't know."
