Hoblick replied to Moto-Brian's topic in LBTS GLWS
i would, but the cbr is a good cheap starter track bike for me.. its got everythign i could want done to it. and its paid for and sitting in the garage. -
for me i have tried alot of different aspects of riding. first draw was just the thrill of speed.. my first bike i owned was a 86 Honda VFR 750 a friend had it , it was the right price, and it looked pretty cool. i dont think i enjoyed it as much as i should have... being around everyone else with newer sport bikes. so i sold her, and made double what i paid. i later got a 96 CBR 900RR.. and then i was pretty much hooked. i started riding fat and trying wheelies (stupid) after getting a pretty bad ticket i sold the bike.. not long after that i ended up with a 2001 Kawasaki ZX7R... this bike now that i looked back was awesome.... but at that time i wanted somethign that was a wheelie machine.. so sold it and bought a 2003 Honda CBR 954RR.. this bike was set up to stunt ride. all the cages, big sprocket, etc... i learned alot from that bike in throttle control and balance.. and also that stunt riding is a good way to get yourself in trouble and beat the shit out of your bike.. sold that bike because i was growing up and needed other things in life.. years pass and i eended wanting another bike... wanted a cruiser, but happened across a trade for a 2000 Honda superhawk... bike was ok, but jsut not my style. so sold it to buy another bike so find a cruiser... 2001 Honda Shadow ACE Deluxe the wife really enjoyed the bike.. me not so much ... underpowered, to small for 2 up riding i think... so again sold it a year goes by.. i ended up finally buying a bike i truly wanted... 2004 yamaha R6... i always loved the styling of the bike and i never had a 600 before. the bike was great.. but... i got more into touring, and this bike could do it with just me riding, but 2 up no way! and at the same time i had traded my mustang for an 05 suzuki boulevard m50... good touring bike but again under powered.. so i had no intentions to keep it. fast forward a bit and got a chance to trade my r6 for the 03 VFR and i did, and i couldnt be happier. it does everything i want it too.. it can hit the twisties, it can tour, and it is a great 2 up bike.. plenty of power for me.. looks great ,and a awesome powerplant. when i do eventually upgrade to a zx14 concours i will still keep the VFR, it is a great one up touring bike as well, as its not as cumbersome as the 14, and a great daily commuter as well. and the newest addition is the track bike, 01 CBR F4i... i jsut wanted a bike to take to track days... and i got a hell of a deal on it

I was at the power sports dealer expo yesterday, and came across this company. their product blew me away. so much so i ordered one of there Forcefield Pro L2 back protectors. if any of you guys that track days or just want some extra protection for the street, are interested in this thing or any of there products, let me know i got my buddy to become a dealer for them. I can get you a smoking deal on there stuff, just PM me for details. they also have a Pro L4 back protector for pro racers as well. the one i bought it has the highest CE rating in the world for a back protector. The impact absorbing material is the bomb. and it flexs with your body. its a truly dynamic and extrodinarly nice piece of gear. here is there website. http://www.forcefieldperformance.com and here are some youtube reviews on the back protector. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Rj6VcDqxxM&NR=1 http://www.youtube.com/watch#v=xkyg-khaKVE&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch#v=Ne-dIFks_58&feature=related Best New Product review from Motorcyclist

the track bike is a salvage title, but obvioulsy straight and rideable. if i wanted to get a rebuilt title for it what do i need? and what would be the easiest way to do so. i was thinking it might be nice to have it streetable to take to the gap or hit some roads back home with. i wanna do it as low cost as possible, cause it wont really see street duty but a few times. ideas anyone?

since Michelins are on sale, i decided now is the time to get my tires.. i did alot of searching or the best deal on my tires.. which are Michelin Pilot Road 2CT and i wanted the rear tire in the "B" which is for bikes with luggage and/or 2 up riding. and also a $20 jump from the regular PR2 MPR2CT Michelin Pilot Road 2CT Front Tires Options: Size: 120/70/17 Front MPR2CT Michelin Pilot Road 2CT Rear Tire Options: Size: 180/55/17 Rear (B) initially i was gonna buy them from motorcycle super store.. price for the pair $290.99 shipped to my door... great price! i checked iron pony.. $311.00 + tax i checked comp acc cause someone started that thread about the tires on sale there... $297.00 shipped and then i tried Extreme superbikes www.extrmsbks.com because someone threw the link up in the comp acc thread... they didnt have the "B" tire online so i gave them a call. the guy i talked to was very helpful, and even put the tire on there online store so i could do the transaction online. There price blew away everyone else.. $257.90 for the pair shipped to my door!!! got my tires ordered, and should be here monday! if anyone needs some tires, i would check them out.

-
he wants a studded seat. if it was studded he would have bought it
-
thats about right on the price.. but that would be worse case scenario... meaning a few had to be adjusted. if just checking the valves with no adjusting its like $650 - $750 Isaacs Pappa gave me a really good price quote about half those prices, but i decided to just do it myself for the experience.
-
it is intimidating, but i wanted to know how to do it, and now i know how. and yeah most bikes, the valves arent that bad to check. with the VFR 02-09, you have to pull the cams and place slide pin stoppers in the vtec side in order to check the vtec valves. if it wasnt for that you would only have to to pull the cams once hell and thats if they even needed needed adjusted.
