Eric, that’s a great looking example. Basically the evil twin to mine (black LS to white rotary both base models with CCW classics). It’s always tough to judge values on swapped cars, but if your interior is in good shape I’d say you’re right on market with your asking price as well.

Rebuilds are all going to depend on how many internal parts are reusable. Once you start needing to replace irons and housings the pricing goes up dramatically. You can scrounge around the forums and find usable irons and housings if you know what to look for, but at that point getting new Mazda motors for around $6k are a good deal.

All of the 255s have been sold and 4 of the 275s have been sold. Have left 4 of the 275s as pictured here

Finally got to watch the Netflix episode. Listening to the phone calls and the “bag of money” explanation was pretty damning. I will say though I felt for him on what he went through with his brother. That was rough. I also noticed in one of the cut scenes of one of the other Dirty Money episodes that while shooting the series was referred to as “unnamed money series” which is what I thought. Doubtful Tucker would have given them full access if he had known the true name/intent of the series.

Sale pending on half of the 275s and all 255s

Good question looks like the 275s are from late 2011. That being said I’ve never had a Nitto age out on me in 7+ years of use if stored properly.

I love that is a newer and more reliable version of the old trick of putting fast food trays under the rear wheels and locking in the e-brake.
-
Sure thing! I run NT-01s in 18s too so I’ll let you know when I’m ready for another set later this year.

heres The model on the cover https://www.autozone.com/covers-and-cover-accessories/car-cover/covercraft-ready-fit-car-cover/322917_0_0 It says outdoor rated and water resistant, but to be honest I’m not sure I’d want to use it for long term storage in wet conditions. I think it’s be fine for some wet weather as long as it could dry out after, but a winter full of snow sitting on top might not be the best.

Still have this. Bump it up for tax time!

I believe that Nittos are the best all around track tire. For any that have used them, they get faster/better all the way down to the cords. Because of that I have a nice stockpile of used NT-01s in 17" sizes, but I moved to 18s on my track car and i'm not going back. These have been stored in my temperature and humidity controlled basement. $25/tire or $80 for 4. I have 8 of the 275/40-17 size in various condition I have 5 255/40-17s - 4 good life and 1 more worn

My favorite tool is the Milwaukee electric ratchet. The new Fuel ones are even better.

JEEBUS. Seems like a lot of work for that. I guess every bit helps when they’re putting standards for manufacturers to meet over all of their products lines together so more of these engines means more availability for GTRs and fun stuff, but damn....

It’s really cool to see them come up with new ways of doing things. What I’d like to know though is HOW MUCH more efficiency are we talking? Did they do all of that for 3-5mpg? If so then pass. If that bitch all of a sudden gets 45mpg on the highway then I’m all ears.
-
I’ll take #3. Just let me know when you want to meet up.

In for recommendations. I’d like to extend my pad at the back of my driveway.

Haven’t watched the show yet, but did follow the news and listen to the dinner with racers podcasts. His comparison to bank overdraft rates in his business explanation is a valid one, but he also completely glosses over the way his loans paid/accrued interest was predatory and never once mentions the Native American tribe issue. He even mentions in the podcast that Netflix was doing a documentary on him and seemed fine with it, so I’m wondering if Netflix was a bit shady in telling him what they were actually using the footage of him for?

I burn quite a sizable chunk of change feeding my road course addiction each year. Every winter I debate if I should continue the trend, but not sure I’d be happy without it.

Somewhat related, it how big are you? You ever driven a FD? If you’re above 5’10” having a FD as a daily isn’t gonna be a ton of fun. Will require aftermarket seats to fit. Otherwise if you’re wanting it for a fun daily the best advice i have is to buy one that is only very minimally modified. Downpipe, cat back, and reliability mods only and it’ll be a cool fun regular driver. It won’t be winning street races but will put a smile on your face.

I don’t really have hate for Nelson as I cut my teeth there when getting into car track events, but it’s just not re-vamped enough to make a visit yet. If they can sort the curbing and drop off from the new pavement it would probably warrant a visit. PITT has had major revisions in the past years and the new full course gets rave reviews. I’m hoping to make it there this year sometime.

Porsche club or Auto Interests would be good to check out. PCA has a long history of good structure for new drivers with both in car instruction as well as classroom time. None of the Ohio regions require you to be a PCA member to partake.
-
I’m going to PITT instead of Nelson in the current scenario of price/quality of facility. I’m going to shoot for NNJR @ Mid Ohio in May as my first event of the year as I’ve done for the last few years. Of course that assumes I can get my crap fixed and running.

I have 3 insulated walls and no insulation in the roof. It’s kept the garage right at or slightly above freezing this week. I use a tank top dual burner which helps but isn’t going to make it cozy when it’s this cold I still bundle up to do work. Nothing is going to warm the concrete though.

Milwaukee is great that they’re making lots of options, but they’re also making things confusing as hell. The mid torque should take off lug nuts no problem. Try to think about jobs you’d really use it for and then make your consideration on size vs power. I have their older non-fuel 1/2 impact which has similar specs to the mid torque I believe and I can take it to the track and change wheels all weekend without concern. I’ve also taken off axle nuts easily and even took off the dreaded flywheel but on a rotary motor after about 30-sec of hammering.
