  1. Myrtle is cool, but I've never been during season.  You realize we just came back from a week there, right?  About all we did was wander the shops and eat seafood.  Barefoot Landing has a bunch of interesting shops in a condensed area.  We stayed at a condo on the beach this time and it was nice to get up at sunrise and walk the beach first thing everyday.  Water was cold so there was only one day we could swim.  Anyway, find the local eateries.  Better food and cheaper.  Good Fellas in North Myrtle is one such...

Charter a half day fishing trip - in shore versus off shore, if you think sea sickness could be a problem.  Gonna run you a couple hundo, but if you like fishing it's good here.  In 2011 we used Mark Stacey

I try not to overplan on vacations, so I don't have a lot of suggestions for you other than that.  Do your research on line.

  2. Pick up an older genesis or better yet, an old summit. People don't know what they have.

I definitely go for re-use when I can, just not seeing much in the way of Weber's on c-list...  You mentioned fuel economy - not having owned a gas grill before, is there a noticeable difference between grills?  I can only assume that the larger the grill the more fuel it'll use, but then my turkey fryer is like a frickin' jet engine and it doesn't seem to use much!

  3. So get this...  The grill on craigslist that I posted?  I was e-mailing and phone calling with the guy and was set to go see it this afternoon or maybe this weekend when he stopped responding.  Then the add disappeared...  Then he leaves me a voicemail to say that he was sorry but he sold it to his neighbor.  Grrr, craigslist sometimes...   :bigfinger:

  4. We.....WE have a new grill  just because you can outcook me doesn't negate the fact it's OURS :D

And it's a 4 burner + ceramic sear inside + side burner + double door storage underneath. Sears, got ours for $285 marked down from $400. Good size cooking area, cast iron grates http://m.sears.com/productdetails.do?partNumber=07123679000P&reviewCount=5&threshold=0.0&defaultFullfillment=DDC&itemSrc=Online

    Nice looking grill...

So, let's talk about the sear burner function.  Different from the infrared function?  How specifically do you use it to enhance your grilling?  There are time's when I would like a SMOKING HOT grill to get a true rare/medium rare steak the way I like them.  Would you use the sear burner to do your steaks that way?

  5. Charbroil is no longer the throw away grills they once were, matter of fact they rate as some of the very best now. Weber is "not" the grills they once were IMHO, and more expensive is not always better. I am a a charcoal man, but will use a gas grill for convenience sometimes.

Yeah, I'm getting that impression about Charbroil.  And I'll probably always do the main course on charcoal, but I want to be able to do sides and sauces outside, too.

  6. I'm a charcoal man.  Always have been.  Won't get rid of my Weber Kettle anytime soon.  It will always have a place on my patio.  But I'm feeling the need for a nice gas grill to enhance the whole outdoor cooking experience.  My thoughts/needs:  Gotta be stainless (duh), large zoneable cooking area, side burner, work surface, enclosed storage.

Not sure I need infrared - seems like a nice option, but really why?  I'd love to stay with Weber, but DAMN the expense!  Charbroil  seems to make a nice commercial grade model...

Let's have your ideas and what have you got that works for you?  It's Memorial Day weekend and all the stores are putting out nice sales on grills.

BTW, Lowe's is doing the two 20 pound bags of Kingsford for $9.99 right now...

  7. This is what paid for the new software, which enables us to use a mobile site. This was the catalyst to all this change. This new software allows us to do much more with mobile than we could on vBulletin. No real need for an app. There was a post or a thread about this a while back.

Sweet!  Thanks for all your hard work.  Looks much better today btw.

  8. the "Hand Jays for Track Days" promotion has been immensely popular.  To prevent black/purple wiener, I'll soon be introducing "Blow Jays for Track Days" program.  Lighter on my penis, rougher on your larynx.  Details to come.  Soon. Very soon.  Almost... almoooooost.... ok, ok, just spit up into that sink there.

First time rep right there.  Had to laugh out loud...
