  1. Well I didn't write it out quite like that but if you'd be so kind as to check my math I posted the stuff in the Tech section. Thanks
  2. that's about the cutest dog ever
  3. MC, I forgot about your post... whoops! I needed 2.55mm and 2.50mm shims, I just went to State 8 and ordered a Hot Cams refill kit that should cover me. I actually needed 7 of the 2.55mm shims and the kit only comes with 5 but they had 2 loose 2.55m shims that they sold me for only $2.25 each. (I needed 9.48mm diameter shims)
  4. no reason to be sorry, I downloaded a ZRX manual and it was helpful I went through a few of them just to make sure I was on the right track and now I'm off to pick up my new shims
  5. I got my new permit today.... shit's even plastic now..... $21 bucks, lol.
  6. This is an 03 ZRX1200 that has just a touch under 45,000 miles - I bought her last summer and unfortunately don't know much about the service history. I rode it a touch at the end of the summer but had a wheel bearing go out and never got it back on the road. Figured I should get this maintenance thing done before flogging her all summer! Spec is - Exhaust - .0070 to .0095 (apparently .010 perfectly acceptable) Intake - .0050 to .0075 (apparently .0080 is perfectly acceptable) Anyways .... here are my measurements. Left to right, E for Exhaust, I for Intake.... E1a - .006 - shim .104 E1b - .005 - shim .104 E2a - .006 - shim .105 E2b - .005 - shim .106 E3a - .002 - shim .106 E3b - .002 - shim .1055 E4a - .0075 - shim .103 E4b - .005 - shim .104 all intake shims were .102 .... leads me to believe adjustment may have never been done? seems odd they are all the same ? if anyone can add to that analysis it would be appreciated I1a - .005 I1b - .0025 I2a - .005 I2b - .005 I3a - .0025 I3b - .0025 I4a - .008 I4b - .005 Doing the math now to make sure I track down the correct replacement shims. Let me do Exhaust #1a and you can check my math, please? Shim = .104 Measured Gap = .006 Desired Gap = .010 Desired Gap Change = .004 This would mean I need a .004 smaller shim, which would be a .100 or a 2.55mm correct? Here's my math for the rest of them. Exhaust 1a - .104 shim changed to .100 shim makes gap change from .006 to .010 1b - .104 shim changed to .100 shim makes gap change from .005 to .009 2a - .105 shim changed to .102 shim makes gap change from .006 to .009 2b - .106 shim changed to .102 shim makes gap change from .005 to .009 3a - .106 shim changed to .098 shim makes gap change from .002 to .010 3b - .1055 shim changed to .098 shim makes gap change from .002 to .0095 4a - .103 shim changed to .102 shim makes gap change from .0075 to .0085 4b - .104 shim changed to .100 shim makes gap change from .005 to .009 Intake 1a - .102 shim changed to .100 shim makes gap change from .005 to .007 1b - .102 shim changed to .098 shim makes gap change from .0025 to .0065 2a, 2b, and 4b are the same as 1a 3a and 3b are the same as 1b and somehow, some way, 4a doesn't need any change at all .... just fine at .008 so, uhh.... how's my math? should I make these intakes .0065 or should I go to .0085 (out of spec high) ? anything you would do differently?
  7. ZRX for $2500 here locally ..... no fairing though, but more power than an older 600 I would have to say http://cleveland.craigslist.org/mcy/1077642625.html
  8. FZR ? http://dayton.craigslist.org/email.friend?postingID=1088865721
  9. see if this works.... not sure http://www.searchtempest.com/results.php?Region=na&statesel=&citysel=&statecodes=&citycodes=&catname=motorcycles%2Fscooters&citySelect=zip&majorsPrc=20&majorsOnly=0&maxDist=100&zip=43016&showcraigs=1&category=8&subcat1=ccc&subcat2=eee&subcat3=ggg&subcat4=hhh&subcat5=jjj&subcat6=ppp&subcat7=res&subcat8=mcy&subcat9=bbb&minAsk4=min&maxAsk4=max&bedrooms=&minAsk6=min&maxAsk6=max&minAsk8=0&maxAsk8=2800&doa=&search_string=&keytype=all&search_string_neg=
  10. every once in a while you'll see an old zr6 for that kind of money on craigslist .... but it's pretty rare
  11. I'll give it a shot and see how that goes once I get started riding her again this year doing a valve adjustment starting today, might take a lil bit to get the shims I need to put it back together I'm sure the bike will be A LOT easier to ride than I remember it because I was riding on a completely shot, fell out in pieces, rear wheel bearing ... even did a group ride on it! f'ing rear tire wobbled like Muhammed Ali

    RIP Kenny...

me too, and I only knew the kid on the internet ..... still sucks
  13. ya I guess it would be a lot cheaper to just get my stupid permit again and try to get into a class I'm sure in a few tries I can make it in .... showing up at 6pm on Friday nights is pretty sucky tho
  14. heh, I shouldn't be recommending Fedex I guess, UPS demolished one of my desktop computers back in the day but with proper packaging and INSURANCE it would probably be done if nothing else worked out I'd just wear a backpack, personally
  15. whoa whoa whoa.... the Subaru hate must stop
  16. if you don't want to deal with a backpack, FedEx it back and forth .... just an idea
  17. ya I'll probably go get my new temps tomorrow, I'm actually on spring break this week and I was there today but didn't feel like letting them pillage my asshole twice in one day.
  18. Oh, so when you get a permit they give you new plastic now? wow, I'm behind the times I thought it was pretty impressive I managed to not lose that stupid paper permit since getting it in 07!
  19. Probably fools like myself who didn't see the reasoning behind needing your permit to ride their bikes in the parking lot
  20. Ya, I was just reading that. Turns out I have to get my permit again either way, to take the class or the test. Or just keep ridin' durrrrtttttaaaaaa
  21. I was just looking at the surrounding counties here and the earliest class opening is the 2nd weekend ...... of September. I wonder if I'd have any success trying to walk on.
  22. I wouldn't mind doing this at all, but when I looked into it before they were booked for months and months in advance, it was ridiculous
  23. Ya I've just read that the maneuvering is pretty difficult with bigger/heavier bikes. I could try it I guess, but it would be a lot easier to do with a smaller bike. If I had 2 freakin' brain cells I would have got it over with when I had my Ninja 250, but of course I'm rather dense sometimes. I found someone to buy it rather quickly and it was gone before I had enough sense to go take the test.
