Hey all! As the Varsity Softball Coach at Watkins Memorial High School, I wanted to give you all the early invite/heads up to our run. (Fine details here and there are still being worked out, so a thing or two might change, but I will update as the event draws near.) Fundraising is a pain to get the proper approval and what not from the higher ups, so we are trying to crank this out before the weather turns. Anyway, it's going to be like a poker run in nature, but with a softball twist. We are a pay-to-participate program, so we would very much love to see everyone show up and give their support. Our field needs some work (new brick dust, clay for pitching mound, a working sound system, chalk, etc) and without a big turnout at this event, much of it probably won't be accomplished this season. We don't even have a permanent fence!! (We recently upgraded from the orange construction fence to a decent temporary fence.) It will be a $20/bike buy-in and winner takes 1/3 of the pot. There will be a 2 hour softball clinic for girls 8-13, so round up daughters, nieces, neighbors or anyone else that falls in that range. The clinic costs $15 (pre-registration, $25 walk-up) and the player will also receive an event t-shirt. We are placing business card-sized ads on the back of the shirt for $20 as well (I can come up with a deal for ohioriders on the $ amount if there's a lot of interest from the business end.) It'd be really awesome to see ohioriders.net, streamlinecycles, etc on the back of a softball shirt, as not many high school softball teams (I assume) are supported by a group of bikers. If you can't make it, that's cool, set up a donation jug at your office/work to call for that spare change! (Like I said, we really need money.) It should be a fun day, a sweet ride, and if you're lucky, you'll take home some cash. If we get a good turn out this year, we hope to make this an annual thing. Help us out and spread the word to all those bikers you know! I'll post the flyer once it's ready I hope to see you all out at Watkins HS/MS in Pataskala on October 6th! GO WARRIORS!!! ~Lauren
