RPs are a good thing - if they are in the right spots. There are a few spots that are just not right and not what should be taught to the riders in general. More RPs are too confusing and from what I was seeing, they weren't on them anyways a lot of the times. I like what you are trying to do Brandon, but the fact is that there needs to be a correct way of showing the correct line... The idea behind a camera guy is that you need to be behind them and filming them and then going over it in the pits. Like what Shadow Video used to do is how it should be done. If you stray off line, it jacks up those behind you and can technically get into their way. It's tough to pass a guy that is being "creative" out there. It's no different than a guy that is riding inconsistently and erratically. You need to be the example and you can certainly tell what the rider is doing by being behind them... Looking back for faster students is like the students themselves looking back. You strayed off line a couple of times. Adding in looking back is only doing more harm. They have to work to pass you as you are out there not holding the proper line. I know a friend had some issues getting past you out there due to what you showed on the video. That's not good. Again, not ripping anyone. But, when you post videos, you open yourself up to judgement. There's a lot of things that are going on that are not productive to helping riders out. Filming them is fine if you do it right and talk about it and show them what they are doing wrong. Take for example a guy riding off the line and you are riding even more off line. How are you to tell him the right line when you're not on it? See what I mean?

There's a reason the CBRs are being discounted. Not even close to being the same bike as the R1 and GSXRs...

Ok, few questions... 1) Who painted the white marks on the track? I assume they are showing the proper line, no? What do the "X"s stand for? 2) Why are you not staying on the line around the track? The idea is instructors need to be riding the proper line in an effort to show the others what the best line is. 3) Why are you looking over your shoulder so much? I understand the idea behind some of these things, but let's start with those three before I go further...

But asking $700 off a price of a new bike with 12 months of warranty, he's a little off. No matter the condition, it isn't new and is used. New ones are at $9799 at some places and although prep and handling will be added, he's still way off... The idea behind selling is to attract people to your product. $700 off a new unit doesn't pull in many possible buyers...

Rare opportunity semi-private event at grattan sept 27
Moto-Brian replied to STT-Guy's topic in Track is Crack
Just a note on this event - you don't have to be a BMW owner to ride. You also will get to see the new 1000 in action as they will have at least two of them. Also something to note, we had a small amount of riders like this at Mid-Ohio last time and it was a complete HOOT! It's like having your own personal track day as the riders get spread out enough that you have a clear track most of the sessions. You also will get a LOT of one on one from our staff that have been doing this for quite some time now and can really help you get better and help with any issues you are struggling with. Weather looks great! -
Got $110? STT has Nashville or GingerMan Oct 3/4 for $110

Bump for a great deal for a final track day fix. -
You guys are all splitting hairs. I challenge any of you to go to ANY dealer and find more high end helmets than what is at Pony. Both MX and street. Vemar? AGV? Tell me where you'll find those anywhere... Nolan? Not the high end stuff... As I stated, they tried Shark and they are a pretty well regarded lid company. The amount of sales was poor and thus, they didin't stay in the shop. They have to cater to the masses of course and I think they do a decent job. Fact of the matter, most web dealers don't even keep the high end lids in stock and drop ship or take 4 plus days to get them to you. Pony can do the same and probably save you some dough, as well... I mean, why hasn't anyone asked why they don't carry X-Lite? Why they don't carry OGK, etc? Come on guys...

I accidently read C7s quote and thought it was you. My bad... I still love you, ya big foreign guy, you!

They are VERY sweet. Will get to try it at Grattan this weekend... They are really coming on strong.
-
They carry everything except Suomy. I think it is a personal deal that stems from way back when. But, they have Arai, Shoei, and had Shark, but due to really poor sales, they dropped them... They have everything else from there and below...

A dirt bike stand is totally different than a road bike set of stands. That being said, we've used the universal stands on our Supermotards a lot in the past with great success. Cool thing with MX stands is that they are under the frame and allow access to EVERYTHING you need to get to. A lot cheaper than street stands, as well...

Michelin tires at prices that are craaaaaaazy low!!!!
Moto-Brian replied to STT-Guy's topic in LBTS GLWS
No, they are not. And actually, someone on here told Iron Pony that I worked for STG. I volunteer and help work with STT. There's a difference and they are not one in the same... Hopefully, it wasn't you that told them that... -

Monte has them at $4 cheaper via the STT site... -
Iron Pony can get them for you. They are sold via Parts Unlimited. Hinds certainly won't be able to get you one and the other shops might like HNW, etc... Problem you'll run into is someone having them in stock...

I wasn't lumping you in with the band wagon fans, Rusty. I know your feelings and I was confused because we've talked at length. The bandwagon guys like the Junkies (who are instructors now) are obviously not going to say anything bad and pump up their events. That's cool. Guys like C7fx are simply just saying everything's peachy because I think they don't know any better. You? You get it and understand the system. I value what you have to say on about everything. Well, almost everything... You make a wise crack on my new suit and we're not friends anymore.

And, don't forget to get those race motors prepped for next year. And for you stock motor guys, now is the time to get some head work done or similar that adds power and performance, but is safe enough for longevity that it isn't going to be a waste by mid season. Reuben's going to be busy in the off season so, get with him to schedule now!

Rare opportunity semi-private event at grattan sept 27
Moto-Brian replied to STT-Guy's topic in Track is Crack
A few of the STT crew you used to have at Mid-Ohio will be there for one on one time and the guys riding will have very good knowledge of the track. STTs been at Grattan longer than any other venue and they know the facility well. These BMW days are great for one on one and we will be having a GREAT time. Correct me if I am wrong, Monte... David or Todd will be there with tire service, too, right? -

I just knew you would have a say on the color. I'm going earth friendly and hitting a bong before each ride on the track. I call it my Gobert fast speed secrets!! -

The other two are sticking around. This color will be out come November this year or as late as January 2010... Keeping the bike theme as it sits. This splash of color ought to be cool in addition to the bike's colorways... -
Yummy! New 2010 digs already!

So, you've seen it!!

I don't have one, but flounder does. His is "I LUV COK". Story behind it is pretty much self explanitory, I think. :D

Florence, Y'All! Seriously, though, Florence is the place to stay at. Maybe 15-20 minutes at best from the track. You might want to do a buddy deal where you grab a buddy that wants to ride - post a ride share thread and ask if anyone wants to split gas and hotel. Two guys splitting costs is going to be a great deal. The way I broke it down, this year's prices are at about $15 more than if you buddy shared to Mid-Ohio from CBus. Total with hotel, fuel and track day costs, etc. So, for $15 more, it isn't a bank beater.

HOW TO: Suomy Spec 1R/Spec 1R Extreme side covers...
Moto-Brian replied to Moto-Brian's topic in Tech and Tips
Pry up? There is no up prying to be done on that helmet. Do you mean that you have to push in on the release? If so, I am dead serious that you have to smack the hell out of it to secure it into the groove. I can help if you want to meet up and I can show you. The write up is pretty hard to figure that last step and I know it makes people nervous when they do it - they think they are going to break the base piece... PM me your info and maybe we can meet at the Pony tomorrow...
