  1. Hi everyone, Ohio Riders members have historically stepped up big time for Pelotonia over the past several years, either volunteering their time, or participating in the event. I am putting the call for people who may be interested in helping out with the moto escort crew. As a Moto Escort, what you do is ride along the route and help out anyone who needs assistance. The vast majority of stuff is chains coming off, flat tires, etc. Easy stuff. In the rare event there is a medical emergency, call 911. The dates for the event are Saturday August 3rd, and Sunday August 4th. Most of the help will be needed on Saturday, but there is always a need for a few people on Sunday too. The ride has 3 starting locations on Saturday morning, and 2 on Sunday. For Saturday: One start is downtown Columbus, second in Pickerington, and the third in New Albany. First riders go out at 7:00AM downtown. The ride finishes Saturday at Kenyon College in Gambier, and Saturday night there is a huge party with food and beer! On Sunday, the 2 starting points are Kenyon College and Dennison University - both finish at New Albany. In the past, we have made arrangements for dorm rooms in Kenyon if you want to do both days, and we should be able to do that again this year too. We can have someone take your gear up too (pillow, sleeping bag/sheets, toiletries etc) so you don't have to worry about carrying it with you all day. If you can only help out one day, or even a partial day, that would be a huge help! If you can't ride this year, there are TONS of other non-riding volunteer opportunities. We can definitely find something for you to do. Minimum requirements: 1. Have your full, valid endorsement, and have your bike plated, registered and insured. 2. Wear at minimum helmet and jeans.. At least a 3/4 helmet. No novelty German war helmets. This is requested by Pelotonia. 3. No super loud bikes at low speeds. No straight pipes etc. Don't scare riders or make them deaf. 4. No jabronis. This is a safety oriented position, and volunteers are expected to lead by example. It's really a pretty chill time, and a great way to be involved in the community, and help out with a great cause. Post up here, PM me, or email me at pelotoniamoto@gmail.com if you want to participate, or if you have any questions at all. I only have a few spots available both days, so first come first serve. Thanks all! Vinny Pelotonia Lead Volunteer - Moto Support PEL19_Handbook.pdf
  2. i've never seen him in gear other than a helmet.
  3. He's probably one of the most down to earth person i've ever met. Ever seen his James Lipton interview? It's pretty deep with emotion...
  4. I like the roads around yellow springs. Sometimes I ride by dave chappelle's house and try to get him to come out and ride with me on his ducati... i mean that in the least stalker-ish way possible...
  5. I used to live on the island in a previous life, doing scientific research for Ohio State on Gibraltar island across from the bars. The locals are cool. It's everyone else who sucks.
  6. long time ohioriders lurker. rarely post here, but i was fortunate enough to make it. glad I got a chance to meet you guys! edit: also, great ride!!
  7. I now belong to a fine list of distinguished sirs... later that day... the autism one... lulz...
  8. New tag arrived today. I regret nothing about this decision...
  9. apparently a lot of people here can tell me when the narwhal bacons...

    RIP Hightower

dunno if this applies, so I'll just raise the flag and see if anyone salutes: ?
  11. All, I have lead the moto-marshal group for the past 2 years. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m4M42-dL_Lo I won't be organizing it this year. Too much of a pain in the ass, plus sitting on a sportbike for 20hrs in 2 days hurts a little. Some pointers for all of you: 1) Keep it professional. Try not to scare any riders if you want to get invited back. Any complaints and it's over. 2) If anyone gets into trouble with a flat tire, chain break or any other emergency, get out the cell phone and call in. You will not be given radios unless you have a radio license. If you are out of cell phone range, you need to ride to get help. A lot of the people you try to help will get frustrated with you because you won't have any tools, so it'll be a good idea to buy your own. Pelotonia staff won't provide you with any. 3) Bring your own sleeping bags and pillows if you plan on staying overnight. You won't be provided with any either if you're going to go the full 180 miles or whatever. 4) If you spot a dangerous intersection with no police support, Park the bike and try to slow traffic and direct the riders through. As many of you know, there was a fatality last year. Remember, rules of the road apply. Riders cannot run every stop sign or traffic light without a police escort. 5) You are not legally allowed to ride on the bike path. I did (pictured) but at your own risk. You could run across a statey that might not be pleased. shittygsxr, if you have any other questions for me, feel free to pm me. I'll do my best to get you in touch with people who may be able to help you if you need anything, or if you have any questions. I'll also keep my eyes on this thread if anyone has any other questions.
  12. yup, i was the white one. he was the black gsxr with the shorty exhaust.
  13. This year was the 2nd annual Pelotonia race for the cure. Actually it isn't a race. It's more like a charity event. This year, we collected over 8.5 million dollars. 100% of it goes to cancer research. This year, there were 4,000 riders. The video starts with me parked near OSU's football stadium in Columbus and concludes with me on the other end of town on South High St where my buddy is broken down in his GSXR with an oil pressure light (I told him if he keeps the revs high, the pressure will build and the light will go out, which it did. Probably bad advise but whatever, he was borrowing the bike from a friend that just wrecked his wife's car. Payback's a beyotch ). I was going to dub over some music for your enjoyment/loathing, but decided that this is way better with the original sound. Video was taken at 7:30am on Saturday morning. Sadly, one of the cyclists was struck and killed by a vehicle right behind me a couple hours after this video was taken. RIP... But anyway, Enjoy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m4M42-dL_Lo PS: Sorry the video is so shaky. My image stabilization was on. If I turn it off, it's smooth as hell. I dunno.
  14. Haha, what's up Justin? Yeah man, I'm hardly ever on this forum. Hu told me this post made it on here so I wanted to throw in my tribute... lol
