  1. Well, it wasn't the battery. I was driving the car today sitting in traffic enjoying the a/c, then all of a sudden it switch to hot air. I read something about turning the dial to hot, then very slowly, one click at a time, turning it back to cold. I did this and the air gets cold for about 20 seconds, then goes back to blowing warm air again. I did this several times and it did the same thing each time. Knowing this, what should I be looking at now?
  2. Oddly enough, the battery in my car died yesterday. The battery was only 2 years old. When I took it out of the car to have it tested, we noticed a decent bulge on the side of the battery. It was replaced free of charge, but now i'm wondering if this could have somehow been linked to the A/C not working intermittently. Maybe the battery was too weak at times to allow the A/C to work. I could be way off base, but perhaps wishful thinking. I haven't had to run the air yet this week, but I'll be checking it occasionally.
  3. Thanks for the replies so far. I read something about the blend doors and module being the most likely culprit on these cars with this issue.

This latest instance was Tuesday evening. Since then, the A/C has been fine. I have a feeling the compressor and charge are ok.

I believe the least expensive thing to check is the blend doors, but at this point, I have no clue how to go about checking or replacing those.

  4. Need some a/c help please. On my 2012 Fusion, the a/c has started crapping out. I don’t use it much but do especially when it’s raining. Recently, after starting my car, the a/c usually works but sometimes it just blows hot air. I’ve been able to shut the car off and turn it back on and it’s fine. Yesterday When it was raining I left work the AC was working fine, stopped at a store, went in got a few items, came back out and started the car. The AC worked for about five seconds and then changed to hot air. I tried shutting the car off and restarting it several times and it would do the same thing. This morning get in the car started drive to work and have a Sue the entire time.

Anybody have any ideas as to what could be causing this?

  5. "...Courtney Smith said, adding that she was never told that Shelley Meyer had told the coach about the allegations at the time"

He will make it out alive but not unscathed. Call this season even more of a bust now

And she's claiming that she told other assistant coach's wives as well. You think all of them never said anything to their husbands? This is going to get real ugly.

  6. Clay, give Rescue Roofing a call. Ken Maynard is the owner and will take great care of you. I used him a lot in my property management days and recommended him to many happy friends/co-workers.

Tell him Shaun from Park Towers sent you.

Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk

He got the insurance company to pay for my roof. My neighbor's was replaced due to hail damage. My insurance company didn't want to pay for it, but he worked hard to make it happen.

  7. Can you replace those batteries after they die?

Yes, they are AA batteries. There is a light indicator on the camera that will turn red, i think, to indicate low battery. Also, if you run the app on your phone, you'll get notified there when the batteries are low.

  8. The wife needed a protective lens and case for her phone, so I added those to my 3-camera Blink XT system order. When I went to checkout, Amazon offered me $60 off my order if I apply for their credit card and get approved. Even with the extras for the wife, cost was $220. :D

However, it looks like I won't get my camera system for about a month.

  9. Amazon Prime Day has started. Is there anything you have been watching and waiting for the price to drop? What are you buying?

I've been wanting some sort of security system for my house, but there's so many obstacles. Power for the cameras, cost of the equipment, cost for cloud service, etc. I saw these a couple weeks ago. Figured I'd wait until Prime Day to see if the price dropped. Sure enough, went from $130 per unit, to $75 for 1 camera with receiver. It's $85 per additional camera (which doesn't make sense, really). Or you can buy a 5-camera kit for $tree fiddy.

True, these aren't as powerful as a system with wired power, but I think they'll be good enough for what I'm wanting to accomplish.

  10. There were so many problems with the workstation, I ended up resetting it and starting over. Now that I have it reconfigured, I've added the script, but it stops at a command prompt at C:\Windows\System32

    This is my batch file:

    @echo off

    taskkill /F /IM explorer.exe

    start /max "C:\Users\skhrkiosk\iexplore.exe -k"

I then threw in the cd\ after the taskkill, so it looked like this:

    @echo off

    taskkill /F /IM explorer.exe

    cd\

    start /max "C:\Users\skhrkiosk\iexplore.exe -k"

Now it just stops at a command prompt windows at C:\

Why is it not starting IE?

  11. How handy are you with windows boot scripts?

If you create a boot script on login and add "taskkill /F /IM explorer.exe" then the explorer will never load and in turn the start bar will be 100% gone. After that, tell the script to load whatever program you want the kiosk to run and that will be the ONLY thing running.

Once you want to shut it down or do any work, just hit Windows Button + R and run the explorer to get it back. That should do what you are asking.

The limitation you are working with here is that the start bar is part of "explorer.exe" and can't be run without it. I had a piece of software a while ago called "Display Fusion" that allowed me to mess with the task bar. It's worth looking into for sure. I know Display Fusion has some stuff you can do where you can lock the damn thing or have it hidden on a secondary virtual desktop. for example, you could run your Kiosk on Desktop #2 and have the start bar ONLY show on Virtual desktop #1.

I'm not a programmer by any means and have no clue when it comes to this stuff. I edited an existing script to put the taskkill command in there. When the computer boots up, all I get is a black screen. I'm assuming it's because I don't have any other commands after it. I just wanted to see what it would do. I need IE to launch in Kiosk mode. How would I do that?

    TIA!

There are scripts already in place. I'll have to look into modifying them. Thanks.

  13. This link might point you in the right direction http://www.intowindows.com/add-or-remove-all-apps-button-from-windows-10-start-menu/

Not sure how much GPO stuff works with windows 10. I've heard some of it is bugged or had been missing early on, hopefully they have fixed most of it.

Ugh. I had this enabled, but missed the drop-down box on the left side to choose to fully disable it. It doesn't show it in the link you provided though. Just happen to see it on my workstation.

Now that I'm at work and looking at it, there's more I need to lock down. Will most likely need to do the startup script deal.

  14. I've been configuring a workstation at work that will run a browser in kiosk mode. I'm using a GPO on the server to control some items, but have hit a bit of a roadblock. The workstation is Windows 10. In kiosk mode, the task bar will still appear on the screen. I want the task bar locked down so that the only button on the left side is the power button. The date/time, wifi, etc will all still appear on the right. I just don't want the users being able to open any of the apps in the "start menu". I can't seem to get rid of the "all apps" button. Anyone know which option(s) that would be in the GPO?

    OR

Is there any way to get rid of the task bar completely or maybe put a fake overlay in its place? Any other ideas or suggestions?

    TIA!!

  15. We're talking Cherokee here rather than Grand Cherokee, right?

Wife is interested in a small/midsize suv and Cherokee was potentially in the running (though not a looker imo). At what kind of mileage is it needing these kinds of repairs? Opinions on ownership otherwise?

Cherokee. I hate this effing POS. So many issues. Some people have had to have the BJ's replaced under 36K. I tried to talk my wife out of it before we bought it. Having owned a Dodge truck in the past, I know how terrible this brand is. It's what she wanted and I couldn't even talk her into looking at anything else. The transmission sucks. The gas mileage sucks. It's cramped inside. The engine knocks like it's diesel. I would pay someone to steal this piece of shit and burn it.

  16. Why? This is like that old wives tale about having to replace both wheel bearings at the same time. It's easier to do both while the car in in the shop because it's not a hard job and both can be done inside 2 hours but you don't HAVE to do it because of some mechanical reason. If you are doing the work yourself then just do it when the thing fails.

I was asking because of the redesign of the knuckle.

  17. Seriously though, I have a friend with a Cherokee and apparently this is a common thing. I don't think there has been a recall but there are a bunch of revision parts. I just texted him your question and his response was:

If you buy the part from jeep, they will only sell you the assembled knuckle which is the revised design (this is the lower BJ, the upper one comes attached to the upper control arm). It's expensive but it is supposed to stop the premature ball joint wear. You can get the ball joint itself from the aftermarket, but there is no guarantee that it won't happen again earlier than usual. The lower ball joint is press fit and held in with a snap ring so you have to find a shop with a press and take the arm off the car to do it.

Yeah, this is what I've read on the forums. It's almost $400 for the knuckle assembly and then I guess there's a nut that they say should be replaced and it's like an extra $5 just for that.

I presume that if you're replacing 1 knuckle, you have to replace the other one. I wonder if there are any better aftermarket knuckles out there that wouldn't be as expensive or maybe the same amount, but would be better. If I go the route of replacing the knuckle, is this something I can do at home, or are there special tools needed to do this too?

  18. Wife's 2014 Jeep Cherokee... Apparently, now the front right ball joint is bad. Been doing some reading on it. Some say the entire knuckle needs to be replaced. Some say the ball joint can be replaced, but is pressed in, but the knuckle has to be removed anyway. Supposedly there's a ball joint press tool that can be rented from the auto store. Then, will the jeep need an alignment afterward? I wouldn't think so, but I've read some say that it's needed. I sure wish the chilton or haynes repair manual were available for this car. I'm going to need it.

Anyone have experience with ball joints on 14+ cherokees?
