The Hero has an excellent music player stock. For SMS I recommend HandCent SMS. I also recommend a file explorer app like ASTRO File Manager. If you have a PS3, PS3 friends is pretty cool. Quick Office is nice to have if you want to view MS office files or PDF's (although I dont think thats on the market, you have to find it online). Google Sky Map is sweet too, chicks love it. When you plug your phone into a computer, a message should come up asking if you want to mount your SD card or not. Mounting it will let you copy files onto your SD card.

Its under notification settings, Blink LED with a checkmark next to it.

At first the LED's didnt work at all when you flashed hero (the hero has 2 LED's), but they fixed it so I dont know why its not working for you. When you install Handcent SMS, disable notifications on the stock app, and enable auto-retrieve on Handcent, you can also change the appearance to Dark and Hero so that it will match your phone. Go through all the settings, and once you have it set up you can do a test notifications to see if everything works. I get a blue LED when I get text's and green when I get emails. You can also change the color of the LED when you run the app on regular android, but doesnt work on G1 with Hero.

Hmmm...I've had those problems on older version but not on 2.5.7. Maybe once or twice a week it will do the loading screen, or the HTC screen. My messaging is fine, but i also use Handcent SMS, and not the stock app. A lot of the times a full wipe and re-flash will help. I'm also only running 3 widgets, weather, wifi and calender. The more widgets you run the more likely you are to get the loading screen.

Hero or regular? It will be a while before a usable version of either will be available to flash for the G1. Sounds like you're not to happy with Hero on yours. Running slow?

Android has been out for over a year. Hardware wise I can kind of see where you are coming from, but the Droid Eris is a rebranded Hero, which has been out for a long time too. You will kick yourself in the nuts if you get an ENV3 over a droid.

Haha, thats good stuff right there. Luckily mine are plastic and I have not had this problem. If I am envisioning it correctly...you might be able to take the caliper off, and try to use the rotor to push the ring off. After giving it a good soak in PB.

I'm not a "football guy" but this happened a year or so ago in Rugby. The largest rugby jersey maker came out with a new, modern and redesigned jersey (which this new buckeye jersey resembles) that functioned a lot better. They started to wear it for the world cup only, but now its the standard jersey. So I think this is a similar deal...technology ftw. Ofcourse the rugby jerseys dont have room for pussy pads

Old wives tale...you can mix engine oils as much as you want. I'm also not a fan of oil treatment because oil is good enough as it is. If you have a high mileage vehicle and you are concerned about keeping the engine clean and keeping the seals in good shape, start using a high mileage oil like Valvoline's Maxlife, its available in a semi or full synthetic so it lubricates well, has added detergents to keep it clean, and additives to restore engine seals.
