When I was buying my house, the inspector noticed that the basement was leaning in a little bit at the top and there were some cracks. The seller had to pay for a structural engineer to come check it out. He then determined that it was within the accepted range (from when the house was settling) and recommended that the sellers get someone to add a better drainage system as well, which they did. Didn't cost me a dime. Hopefully it turns out the same in your case.

Pretty sure it's all mileage based. There's no oil quality sensor that I know of, definitely not on a B5 and I highly doubt it on a B6. My B8 is also mileage based, it does however have an oil level sensor that displays on the MMI screen, there is no dipstick. I change the oil in the B5 every 5000, in the B8 I'll just go with what the car tells me, aka manufacturer recommended interval.

They just need to simplify everything and go back to MW1/MW2 style.
