  1. See, I wanted a Z1000, grabbed a Sportster 1200 when I couldn't find one, now this bad boy comes up for the same price.... DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMMMMMNNNNNNN IT! LOL - super sweet ride, GLWS
  2. I've sold one and bought one in the last 2 weeks. I'd get out there before the flood of bikes hits CL in the next month.
  3. Wound up finding a really nice bike for a good price so I decided to pull the trigger and get it. Bike has clearly been cared for - lots of beautiful chrome that's not pitted. Aftermarket seat, V&H short pipes, some skull addons lol! Has the larger gas tank too. Just under 12K miles, scored her for an even $5K. I'm really happy - the ride home was nice. Pretty windy but the bike stayed planted and handled well. Plenty of power. Turning characteristics are a bit different than I'm used to with the larger front tire. It's a real beauty! Here's a short video of it rumbling in my drive way lol! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yA-bhA33pGU
  4. Well, got my HD Sportster 1200 C this morning! Freakin' awesome as I expected. I'd close this thread but I can't figure out how!
  5. That's a great deal on that C50...looks beautiful!! GLWS!
  6. I forgot about the Vulcan 750 and the Honda 250 was the VTR like this (and to think I was concerned about how I'd look on the Sporty when I rocked this 250 around town for a couple of months! lol)
  7. Man, I've owned several bikes over the last several years. Everything from sportbikes ('98 ZX-7R, CBR 600f4i) to cruisers (Suzuki Intruder, Honda VTX 1300S), had 2 EX-500's, a '93 Nighthawk 750, an old Honda 250 (can't remember the model but it was fun)...None of those bikes have done much for me. They've all come and gone and i honestly don't miss them. In the past, I've always tried to get as much bike for the money I wanted to spend as possible rather than asking myself "what do I really want". I figure the time is right to try a Harley - but honestly the price has to be right for me. I'll only ride 5 months out of the year, and even then not very much. I'm not spending a ton of coin on that.
  8. LOL - awesome. I've found a couple Sporty's that fit my criteria but so far no call backs, made an offer via email (fair based on NADA) on another that's a bit more than I want to spend but looks really nice - no response yet. No rush but I definitely want to ride soon so I hope somethin' works out!
  9. Looking for a Harley Davidson Sportster 1200 of pretty much any flavor, want a 2004 or higher year (rubber mounted engine! ). I'd like to have one with less than 20K miles in good condition. I'm not looking for a fixer-upper. I will have to sit on it for feel - I'm only 5' 10" tall but coming in around 215lbs. I think it should be good though - I rented a 1200 sporty years ago in Hawaii and was about the same weight, it was great. I'm trying to get into a Harley w/o breaking the bank, not buy to flip - have up to $4500 cash ready to go. I know, not much for any Harley - it is what it is I'm looking so if you have one you want to part with let me know asap! email at drancour at gmail dot com thanks!
  10. I know selling on CL is a PITA - I've sold more guitars/amps on there over the last 2 years than I can count. I just sold my bike and that went well, but I was also willing to move off my asking price so that helped. I respond to every text or email I get - in a timely fashion. I do get tired of "is it still available?" when I put in the ad "if that ad is up, it's available"...!! But at the end of the day I want the buyers $$$ so I make sure I do everything I can to get it. I called 2 people this morning about their bikes on CL - I hope at least 1 gets back to me lol!
  11. I wouldn't do that - dude sounded a bit angry lol! I think you could find the information you seek if you check CL for a 750 Katana on the west side for $2600 though...
  12. That's too much bad-ass bike for me - good to know you're a nice dude though!
  13. I swear - I don't know if I'm just the nicest guy on CL or what, but it sure seems like most people are freakin' stupid. I've text'd 2 people (per instructions in their ads) to setup a time to check out their bikes, no response. Today (just now) , I call a guy about his 750 Katana - great price, ad says to call and doesn't mention any hours so I call the guy (11:10am). Guy answers the phone and I say Me: "Hi I'm Dave, I saw your CL ad and I'm calling about your Katana. How you doing?" Sellter (sounding annoyed): "well I just got woke up", Me: "Oh, sorry is there a better time I can call you back?" seller(sounding annoyed): "Not really I'm about to go to work" me: "Ok, well I just have a couple of questions about the bike." seller: "I just started it yesterday and rode it around the block a couple of times" me: "How are the tires? Any dry rot on the sides?" seller (sounding annoyed): "if you read the ad you know that it comes with new tires" me (I have the ad open right in front of me): "I see it says that it comes with new tires, are the tires installed on the bike?" seller (sounding like i"m asking the dumbest questions in the world): "NO, it means that tires come with the bike" me: "You know what, thanks anyway. Have a good day" It's like I can't find someone cool to give my money to. When I have an ad up, if someone messages me I respond very quickly and tell them what's going on. If someone takes the time to call me I take the call, am polite, answer their questions and try to get them to come look at whatever I'm selling. Hard to believe but that's the way its gone. If you're selling something on CL and someone takes the time to check into what you're selling, don't be a dick - treat people the way you'd want to be treated. /end rant.
  14. Yea, that bike is pretty much delicious...what a beauty. Congrats and enjoy!
  15. Lol, 1 day I will find the bike I like and I can find riding bliss... until then, there's lots of bike to be bought, upgraded, and sold
  16. This is BAD ASS!! Too bad it's a one off: http://www.xtremekreations.com/wp-content/gallery/zombie-helmet/zombie_helmet_4.jpg
  17. I asked my buddy at work about this subject...his take? "You can make it fit with the right bars, seat, and controls, but you are going to look like this…"
  18. I definitely think the sport-touring is a good way to go...i'm going to own something right now even though I'll probably get mocked for it I owned a '96 Suzuki Katana 750...I know, I know...it's stupid heavy and doesn't crank out the power like a real sportbike. But man, that thing was comfortable and it had some power. AND they've been around so long their solid as hell, lots of parts if you need them, and they don't break the bank. Seriously - if I found a good condition, low miles Katana 750..I'd probably snag it up. My '96 got stolen 1 month after I bought it...one of the worst days of my life!
  19. Those Indians are definitely cool but the ones I've seen are carrying full size Harley prices. I love to look at them, but no way I'm dropping that coin on a bike I can only ride ~5 months out of the year.
  20. i have thought about trying to change it that way - but I don't know enough about engines to say that the only thing that'd need to be changed is the sprocket. I certainly wouldn't attempt it on my own. I thought the engine was built around this type of gear ratio and that tinkering with it could mess up the engine performance. It's a common "issue" reported with VTX 1300's if you google it. I've done a lot of reading on it and was surprised I didn't find this offered as a solution. I figured that the reason it wasn't brought up in my research is because it's not a simple change. Do you have the contact information for a qualified MC mechanic that I could ask that question to?
  21. Great condition bike, I bought a year and a half ago from Independent Motorsports. I could keep this bike and be happy but I'd rather find something else that scratches the itch a bit more Trades - will consider trades for roughly equal value bikes in good condition. I'd really like to keep the engine displacement at 1000cc or higher, stick to standard type bikes (think FZ1, V-Strom, Z1000, SV1000 etc) or I'd even consider other cruisers. Condition is more important than miles but I don't want a really high mile bike, the max would be 15-20K miles. Don't want a fixer upper, my bike is ready to ride so trade bike should be as well. Help me move this baby! It needs a good home. Here's the CL link - could have a bit of wiggle room on the price for OR.net buyer http://columbus.craigslist.org/mcy/4906768381.html Thanks!
  22. I wouldn't wear one but I think it looks pretty cool. Love me some Halo too! 45 years old and I still love my video games. Got a PS4, XBOX One, and a gaming PC. I'd prefer a good zombie helmet myself :-)
