  1. That's pretty much the other reason I'm going:D
  2. Just booked flights and reserved a bike in Dublin for the Northwest 200 http://www.northwest200.org/ Always wanted to go to this race, just never had the time. Decided to make time this year and go. We'll cruise around Scotland for a week and then ride to Ireland for another week, ending up at the 200. I hope to get a notebook PC so I can post pics and updates from the road. Can't wait - should be a blast.
  3. Just need to open excel spreadsheets and email attachments for work. Need to be able to work on the spreadsheets and then email them back to people. Also open and modify Word documents, etc. Think the notebooks would be decent for that? Realizing that typing on the small keyboards will be a pain, but I won't be doing much of that really.
  4. I'd like to buy a notebook PC similar to: http://www.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/laptop-inspiron-10?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&ST=dell%20mini%2010&dgc=ST&cid=39987&lid=1042975 Just something that packs small to access email while on bike trips, download digital pics and do light work while on the road on a bike. Want spend in the $300 - $450 range. I hate lugging my heavy and huge laptop with me on bike trips! What are your suggestions?
  5. Gotta be this guy then: http://mphohio.com/megamax.htm
  6. If they are indeed warped, just buy some new ones. They don't cost all that much. Getting them straightened would cost a decent bit. Also, check the thickness of the rotor to see how used it is. If it's near the wear limit, it's not worth making it staight. Most modern rotors have a minimum thickness stamped on the rotor carrier. look for soemthing like "Min. 3.5 MM" stamped on it. Then have someone mic it for thickness. A local machine should would probably do it free of charge for you if you don't know someone with a micrometer.
  7. Ya mean this guy? http://www.framestraightsystem.com/ Used to be in southern Michigan, but moved to Tennessee a couple of years ago. I went to his shop when he was in Michigan. It was a system he designed and it was pretty impressive. GMD-Computrack ( see: http://www.gmd-computrack.com/ ) sells a system that they devised to shops around the country. I have heard good things about their system, but have no first hand knowledge. Ask Reuben on the 35Motosports section - he'll steer you in the right direction.
  8. My grandparents came here in 1930 as there were no jobs in Germany. Or so they said;)
  9. Screen shot from Streets... Pretty cool program to use. Be nice if all that are going had a copy so we can coordinate stuff better.
  10. I logged 4 nights in hotels this past week for work, so I got a lot of important paperwork done for work. Oddly enough it all looks a lot like the routes for the Trip West. I have the complete route mapped out and saved as day by day routes. If you have Microsoft's Streets and Trips '07 or newer - PM your email address to me and I'll send you the routes. If you don't have Streets and Trips, go buy a copy. It's only like $25 or so. Great tool for trip planning, etc. Could always buy one copy and pass it around to everyone. I'll also do daily trip sheets that I'll email to everyone. Those will have the hotel name, reservation numbers and routes so you can put a daily sheet in the top of your tank bag. This way, if you get seperated from the group, you'll know where we're staying that night and will have a suggested route to get there. I may do a roll chart as well for the entire trip. If anyone has a roll chart holder and will send me the paper, I'll do a roll chart for it as well. Eric
  11. I'm guessin' most of mine were probably Nazi's - but one cousin is a opera singer in Germany still. Dunno how famous she is though.
  12. Tell ya what - you buy the brass*** and I'll make ya some bar ends free of charge. I'd need 6" of 1.375" diameter brass bar stock. see: http://www.earachemotorsports.com/sportbikes.html I've made literally hundreds of sets of bar ends over the years. I can make them any size you want, but I generally try to make them weigh in at around 13 oz. - seems a good combination of size and mass. I used stainless steel for years, but it got to be too expensive (thus the $80 bar ends from others). I now use brass as it has a higher specific gravity (weight) and is cheaper. Once powdercoated, ya can't tell what they're made of. Aluminum bar ends won't do shit as there's no weight involved. You're not really getting rid of vibration with them - just changing the frequency at which the bars resonate / vibrate. I made a set for one of my Duc's with a groove for mirrors - works great. ***You can buy brass in 1.375" diameter for about $4.00 per inch. Find it locally or at www.McMaster.com or http://www.speedymetals.com/ or www.onlinemetals.com or just about anywhere that sells metals. Look for Type 360 brass, (it's cheap, widely available, etc).
  13. That comes in the next thread, titled "What countries have you ridden in" Thanks for the pics - states added.
  14. I had no idea it was a Suzuki - shows how much I know. Be cool if you could get some of those old pictures, scan them an dthen post them up. It'd be great to see someplaces from back then and compare them to today. I have a picture of me as a child at Mt. Rushmore. The parking area out front of the place was just a gravel lot - nothing like today.
  15. I'm diggin' the Vetter fairings on the Wing! Have any more pictures from that trip? I'd love to see'em.
  16. Nope- there's a couple I haven't been to that have been posted - like Maine. What others do you have? We don't have many eastern states listed. Anyone ride in Hawaii?
  17. More states. Can't believe no one hasposted Florida yet. Here's some from St. Pete Beach in front of the Hurricane Restaurant and out in the middle of the state... The curves of Nevada... Redwoods in California...
  18. April through October is okay. Rains a bit more earlier in the summer and is hot as Hell mid-summer, late summer is most crowded. Take yer pick!
  19. Shitloads more - we never rode this far south on the weekend that we were there. Remember that nasty assed Burger King we ate at? This is south of there about 100 miles. Tons of great roads down that way. Pick a weekend and we'll head back down.
  20. A few more of the obscure states that most don't ride in.... Wyoming (or "fuckin' Wyoming" as I like to call it) South Dakota Georgia Utah
  21. That's the one I was talking about - I pass it all the time when going to Cleveland, but just never stopped.
  22. I was going to take a pic in front of the "Welcome to..." signs that I passed on bike trips. That idea lasted for about 3 signs. Idaho, Montana and New Mexico...
