  1. Perfect weather greeted us at the track today with sunny skies, low humidity andtemperatures in the low 80's - just perfect...
  2. And wear some gear! Wouldn't be nearly as bad with just a decent leather jacket on, some good gloves and some leather pants with armour.
  3. I use the second ones; CRG HIndsight mirrors with some cutom made bar ends. The Rizoma's from PJ's are just a bit too big and clunky looking for me - but to each his own. They work well - better than most OEM sportbike mirrors.
  4. Always wondered about that as well. Maybe they just wanna waste more money?
  5. A bunch of us are going on Tuesday and plan on riding over. Let me know if you wanna ride / hang with us and we'll meet up someplace.
  6. I;m out - Indy Ducati doesn't have my forks done yet and am not sure of when they will be done. So I'm forked. Have fun!
  7. Here's a chance for you to get out to Indy and watch practice. And it's FREE! OPEN TESTING The following is from IMS... The public is welcome to watch the MotoGP and Red Bull AMA U.S. Rookies Cup Open Test from July 1-3 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, as riders and teams prepare for the inaugural Red Bull Indianapolis GP on Sept. 12-14. MotoGP teams will test from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. (ET) Tuesday, July 1 and Wednesday, July 2 on the 2.620-mile road course at IMS. Red Bull AMA U.S. Rookies Cup riders will test from 10 a.m.-3:30 p.m. (ET) Thursday, July 3. The public can watch testing from these locations at IMS: •South Terrace (in front of Hall of Fame Museum); Disabled Seating (in front of Hall of Fame Museum); Turn 2 Viewing Mounds; Southwest Vista sections 14-20; South Vista sections 1-5. I'll be there and will post any pics that I can take.
  8. That would explain it then. Those high speed crashes are difficult to avoid.
  9. What the Hell was he doing that far left around a corner? Stupid ass deserves to be T-boned.
  10. I'll be heading down to Telico Plains area and staying in a rented house for a few days with the wife July 10th through the 14th. I will, of course, take a couple of bikes with me. If anyone is going to be down that way, let me know and we'll do some riding. I'll take my ST1100 for two up riding with the wifey and a Ducati for solo rides. Eric
  11. Cool - I'll see if I can get my bud to come with me, he has a video camrea set up on his bike.
  12. I might be up for riding next Sunday in KY. I have some other things scheduled, but I'll see if I can move stuff aorund and make it down. What time do you usually meet up? I'll probably have to trailer down from Indy (go ahead and laugh) so I'll need to find a spot in Cinti or Northern KY to drop the trailer and truck.
  13. KY has loads of better roads than the one he posted - like Route 22. Dunno how far that is from his place, but it'd be worth the drive no matter how far it was.
  14. Holy cow did that suck. Maybe it's just an optical illusion and the road really is curvy. Doesn't look like it though. One my bud Phil and I did a couple of years ago, (shot with a $25 board camera so the video ain't all that great)... Fast Eddie Lord and I did this one too, (not much better quality)...
  15. It's really easy on R1's - but the last clutch plate is held in with some sort of retaining wire - took me 30 minutes to figure that out. Could have been a 1/2 hour job if it weren't for that damned thing.
  16. A benefit of being older (and perhaps the only benefit)
  17. I hear ya; I've had sugery on both knees to replace ligaments, shoulder surgery to reattach my bicep and ligaments. Tons of arthritic pain and I do get stiff in places that aren't meant to be stiff (). But a little ice on tyhe knees at night and I'm good to go. Se stayed in Shelter Cove, Cali for three nights just to rest up a bit. On these two week long trips, I try to shcedule a 2-3 day stop somewhere so we don't have to ride our asses off to get to the next town. Makes for a nice break if you pick a place that has stuff to do that doesn't involve riding all that much. Maybe only 100-200 miels per day or less.
  18. Oregon was on the way back! Piece of cake to do, you should try a long trip once or twice just to see if you like it. With the right destination and the right route to get there; you'd have a blast. Just gotta plan your trip carefully. You'd get to see all sorts of shit you've never seen before; remote canyons, high mountain roads, deserts, shitbox hotels, really nice hotels, just all sorts of cool shit. Plus you get to hang with some of your friends for a couple of weeks, eat some new types of food, drink some new beers and just generally fuck around. These trips put a smile on my face for at least two months when I get back home and return to work. Always gives me something to think about and remember. And then, just as the memory starts to fade, it's time to be thinking about and planning the next trip. It's a vicious cycle I tell ya....
  19. You can always blow them off with compressed air after washing and then spray some brake cleaner on them to disperse any left over water. But they'll still rust a bit - just from humidity in the air. One use of the brakes and they'll clean right up!
  20. Carlos Checa won both legs fo the WSB races But ran outta gas on the cool down lap and had to bum a ride back to the pits.
  21. We saw a few nice cars at Miller's... Dave was gonna lean on the Bently for a picture but wussed out.
  22. Couple of cool road shots from Bumfuck, Oregon...
  23. The entire town of Prospect, Oregon. A hotel, and a bar. We stayed here for two nights... Careful packing is the key to any successful bike trip. Not so careful unpacking is allowed when you're trying to find some clean undies buried in the bottom of your bag... Check out that bed - I'm 6'1" and had my legs below the knee hanging off of the end of it when I laid down.
  24. These gas stations always crack us up because we're just about as refined as Beavis and Butthead are. Dave had to get the shirt... Joe was so impressed that he got a pink one for his (soon to be ex-) girlfriend...
  25. I'm not into fishing at all,but check out the salmon this dude caught in the Snake River... He looks like he's pretty stout and yet he can barely hold them up for a picture
