  1. thanks for the props and passing along the word. its definately a great looking bike for the age, just goes to show you why you should garage your toys!
  2. just got back from dc and am getting my 83 honda vt750c put back together. after rumaging through the boxes of parts i have 4 clutch lines and two master cyl. one mc is rusted shut, the other is clean an moves freely but the rubber boot that protects the plunger is about gone. my question is any tips on how to rebuild the mc. the local bike shop in akron isnt open yet, gonna see if they can get me one. ive checked on ebay and they have rebuild kits for ~$30+ship. there are also a couple mc but they look questionable. my next question is about the line i have 4-5 lines some look like trash and some look good. is there any way to clean the hose out that wont react with brake fluid and/or eat the lines? some sections of the line are 1/4" hard metal and some sections are 1/2" rubber tubing. i dont think rebuilding the mc will be hard im more concerned about the line. thanks
  3. rode all sorts of off road toys, 2,3 & 4 wheels. first street bike was an 89gs500 great first bike super easy to work on(no fairings). second bike 98gsxr600 love it, still have it third and my current spring full restore project 83shadowvt750c about 90%done!! looking sweet!! my thoughts on first bikes, just dont be stupid and make sure you wanna ride. my first bike i paid $450 for it. so i figured if i really didnt want to ride on the road at least i wouldnt loose money. after i got it up and running, carbs cleaned, new tires, battery, fixed leak in gas tank and other misc. all for about ~$400 i rode it half of last season sold it for $850 and bought the 600 rode that for the rest of the season and bought the 750 this winter. i would have been very sad if i started with the 600. i dropped the 500 3times never while moving, always while standing still. twice at a stop sign in loose gravel and once at a stop sign in a bit of a dip, foot never touched the ground until it was too late... being short owns me... i'll be lowering the 600 this year to avoid costly drops. or i may sell it once the 750s done, we'll see though.
  4. thanks for all the welcomes vt750c honda shadow i will be in Washington DC for another 5 weeks then i'll get working on the bike, cant wait!! i'll have to resist riding the gsxr until i get the shadow done!!
  5. hello all, ive been riding on the road for a year or so, off road since i was six. my quad is an 86 lt250r out at my gmas farm 80acres to play on! my on road bikes are 98gsxr600 and i recently picked up 3 - 83 VT750s. got them off of a guy that has restored them as a hobby for years one is about 85-90% completed, powder coated frame, new factory paint and badges. needs pipes put on, wire up the head light, needs seats and tank installed and few little things then its on the road! it'll look great when its done, this guy put some serious hours in this one the second he was using as a parts bike. this one has a salvage title. is it possible to get rebuilt title? is there some where i can take it to get the frame checked out? the third is just a bare frame. each frame has a motor. only have one set of pipes. oh and i have a truck bed full of parts. so once i get the first one completed i'll be doing an inventory of parts. hopefully i will be able to build another one. but if anyone needs anything let me know and when i get back home from DC (doing a coop) in a month or two i'll see what i have. i'll check back here everyonce in a while and i will update this thread once i get home and get the first one done. also will probably consider selling my gsxr once the shadow(s) done.
