  1. It was great meeting everyone this weekend.   I appreciate everyone's kind words and support.

I just got home from Grattan and have to attend work tomorrow.   I will do my best to have the pictures up on my website ASAP,  realistically I'm thinking Tuesday/Wednesday, as there are just shy of 20k photos to flip through and put into groups.   I will post up in this thread as I make progress and on my facebook page.   Please go like the page so you can get updates, tag your friends, get free pit shots and all the other facebook jazz.

    Here is my website

  2. I already planted that seed.   I will see him again at grattan this weekend.   I am not sure he has his head wrapped around the idea of racing yet but he's definitely not done improving.

You talking about the Motoseries round on the 28/29 weekend?    I'll definitely mention it.

OK remind me who you are, if you were at Jennings then I probably know you/gave you pics.  :)

  3. that's some good advertising for DGM photography

Lol, he's a wedding photographer and a regular customer.   Actually, over the last 3 summers I've watched Dan go from slow guy in novice on a 696 monster to running 1:19s in Advanced on his 848 this past weekend in advanced.  he just keeps improving steadily every time he comes out.

  4. When you get and email like this from a customer you know it's worth your time and effort.

"Marty, just want to say thank you for taking the time to come out to the events and take photos of the events. that's something people can look back on and cherish for the rest of their lives. Thanks for being a part of it! Here is the payment for the CD. All the best!"

And a second email from the same customer:

"When I'm in my 60's, provided I make it that long then my kids and grand kids can see them and know grand dad was a bad ass. ;-)"

So step right up and support your local starving photographers and make them feel loved. :D

    Nice.

  5. Political correctness is sucking the fun out of life.

If pictures of fully clothed women posing with motorcycles upset my boss I would find a new job.

although I agree with you, I also appreciate the heads up, never know who is watching, might not be your boss or your company, might just be somebody whose easily offended that wants to make your day go badly.

I find these topics funny,  yah sure maybe the asian looks hotter in the pics but I doubt many of you would kick either 1 of them out of bed.

  6. Guess you should have learned how to use it first.   :) JK, great shots Mr. Hansen. What set-up were you using?

Shots above are with a Canon 1Dx, and a 200mm F/2 IS and a 400mm F/2,8 IS II  both lenses have the drop in polarizers in place, mostly shot wide open, and I opted not to fix the vignetting from the 400 f/2.8 with the lens profile correction cause I think the pics look really nice with the exposure drop off in the corners you get from shooting the 400 wide open.

The preview here on the forum is with the 200 f/2, the tighter shots on if you click through are obviously with the 400.    All in turn 6 at IMS.

So...... whose got $7k for my new camera body?   I'm hooked, the 1Dx is 1 bad assed camera.

  7. I got to evaluate some gear this weekend, first stop MotoGP practice and qualifying.

    Check out the pictures here.

  8. I liked this part and it's so true.

It's not easy being a photographer.  You pay a vendor's fee, spend two days in the hot sun, shoot and sort a thousand images, then hope that people buy enough of them that you can cover your expenses and maybe even make a buck or two.

Support your local shooter.  Budget a few of your trackday dollars to keep him or her coming back.  Watch what happens when the eye behing that big hunk of glass begins to recognize you as someone who buys his work.  You won't be sorry.

Me too,  K3 is cool.  He's said several times that people need to vote with their dollars when they want to keep a track photographer around.   Of course I agree.  :)
