  1. See ya at Mid-Ohio. Will be instructing both days. Come over and say "hi". As usual, the #10 race prepped GSXR... Black and white this year...

Any idea if you'll be in novice, intermediate or advanced?

I'm signed up for intermediate both days and I'll be on the flat black 2003 GSXR750 in race fairings. I'm about 6'3" tall in black teknics leathers. I'm easy to spot.

I do appreciate the advice about Reuben and I will keep him in mind in the future. I had just already committed to Matt and already sent him my rear shock by the time I had heard from you and everyone else about him.

  2. If he did in fact not get drunk until after wrecking the bar stool then it's not an OVI. In fact, I think that if he manages to drink at all after the "driving" occurs but before they measure his blood alcohol it ruins the case against him because they have no way of measuring his alcohol level while driving. I don't think he'll get an OVI. Driving under suspension.... I don't know if a motorized bar stool counts for that or not.

  3. Here are a few of me on the track at Barber a few weeks ago before I took it apart again.

I guess that last one is a repeat. Pulled the dent out of the tank the other night. No pictures yet but I'll get some soon. Doing some sanding and going to go with flat black on the whole bike. Hopefully I'll get the suspension back soon and get it back together. Also found an extra set of wheels for the rain tires. I'd say I'll se set once it's all back together this time.

Next track day. Mid-OH April 25th and 26th due to bluegrass in April being canceled.

  4. the hog replace my car during season to ride around my business.some days i put over 100 miles, and i ride every day if not rain.i got the best job i ride and make money same time.

do you plan to use the 1098 for the same sort of riding?

  5. I've ridden superbikes on the street and much prefer the upright riding position and lower gearing for the street as apposed to the superbike. Vice versa on the track though. Just my opinion.

+1 on get the 1198 rather than 1098 though. Might as well get the extra power and newer stuff.

  6. Get the Duc man! You'll pick up skinner chicks lol j/k

LOL, maybe not skinnier but either they will be thinner or not look like a baseball mit riding on the back of your bike.

Not that I have ever seen any of that sort of thing on the back of a harley at say.... QSL on wednesday nights.

  7. Of course on instinct I vote duc. However. 1098 as a street bike? You'll regret that. the 996 and the 1098 are great track bikes and not horrible on the street but honestly in my opinion they aren't much fun on the street. Ergonomics is not comfortable for street, superbikes feel unstable until your going well over the speed limit and all the ducs with the underseat exhaust are like riding on a toaster in the summer time. They do look and sound awesome. I'd get a duc but I'd look at something more like a monster, the new street fighter, the hypermotard or even the multistrada if you are buying it primarily for street riding. Either way ditch the harley. They are for sissies and ride like tractors. Just sayin.

  8. I think this is going to vary from bike to bike. I can tell you on my monster the stock headers were smaller in diameter than the full system (except right where the pipe goes into the manifold. There is also big udder where there is supposed to be a cat that is eliminated. So on a Ducati S2R 1000 there is a big dif between the slip ons and the full system. Not to mention the full system as loud as hell. The full system, combined with an open air box and a rapid bike module gained 10hp at the wheel from 78hp to 88. That is a pretty good gain in my opinion.

  9. I have a used set of these rotors and am thinking of selling them to recoup some cost of other extras I've bought for the bike.

Just curious what people's interest in them is. I plan to check them for straightness with a runout gauge before selling.

New they go for around $300 a piece.

Anyone interested? I haven't seen a lot of these for sale used. Is $450 for the set reasonable? Any input would be great as I'll sell them if they fetch enough money. If not I'll just keep them. No big deal either way, I just don't know what they are worth used.

    Thanks.

  10. Alright. Since I'm only a fairly aggressive rider and I often ride in cold weather and across long distances I'm feeling a bit of buyer remorse. Thanks for the advice everyone, in my n00bishness I bought something that wasn't right for me. It's nobodies fault but mine, just not what I need for the street.

Look for these on eBay in a couple of weeks or PM me if you need a good set of trackday tires.

I wouldn't feel too bad about it. I'm sure they will still stick fine. I think flounder was just trying to warn you that they aren't the same as a street tire.

  11. If your buying his tires make sure you realize that they dont heat up near as quick as a regular street tire. Dont think that just because they are a race tire that they are super sticky... These things need heat in them before you go trying to get low on a public road.

Or buy them to run on a track as they were designed.

  12. Vstrom would be a great bike for someone tall. I'm 6'3" and have a ducati monster and a GSXR750. The monster is a little small but I love it too much. The GSXR or any of the sport bikes for that matter seem to stretch you out a little more but neither are tall per say. The V-strom and most other enduro-tourers are pretty tall and would work great if your height is the main concern. Ducati Multistrada and many of the BMWs are other good tall options. I have a buddy that has a V-strom 1000. I think it's a great all around bike, good at being sporty and for touring.

  13. Big groups do add up to more crashes I agree. Especially this early in the season when the roads are covered in sand and gravel and everyone is working out the cobwebs of winter remembering what it feels like to lean the bike over.

I too was out this weekend on 180 and 374. Those roads were not good. 56 was decent though. As someone else said 78 is fantastic and usually clean as it's more heavily traveled. I didn't get that far out though. Always like visiting big muskies shovel out there. If you decide to head out I'd just advise to ride slow and stay out of the middle of the lane as the road conditions are not really sport bike friendly. Still fun to get out though.
