the DTC Pub.....A gathering place for "off topic" conversations
Fonzie replied to Fonzie's topic in Daily Ride
Humpday Humor........... A gynecologist had become fed up with malpractice insurance and HMO paperwork and was burned out. Hoping to try another career where skillful hands would be beneficial, he decided to become a mechanic. He went to the local technical college, signed up for evening classes, attended diligently, and learned all he could. When the time for the practical exam approached, the gynecologist prepared carefully for weeks and completed the exam with tremendous skill. When the results came back, he was surprised to find that he had obtained a score of 150%. Fearing an error, he called the instructor, saying, "I don't want to appear ungrateful for such an outstanding result, but I wonder if there is an error in the grade." The instructor said, "During the exam, you took the engine apart perfectly, which was worth 50% of the total mark. "You put the engine back together again perfectly, which is also worth 50% of the mark." After a pause, the instructor added, "I gave you an extra 50% because you did it all through the muffler, which I've never seen done in my entire career." -

Dude.... are you serious? You send them to your spam box!? If you're not joking, then you're the reason we keep getting blocked as spam for Yahoo. WHen you do that, Yahoo keeps track. So many emails from a domain marked as spam and BAM, we're blocked. Don't do that!!!!!!!!!! If you don't want the emails, turn them off in your User CP.

Steelers arrived in Tampa this afternoon  They're talking about how ~95% of the crowd in Detroit 3 years ago were Terrible Towel wavin' Steelers fans, and will Cardinals supporters travel any better than the Seahawks did, or will this be another "home" Super Bowl for us!!

Okaaayyy.....Sooooo.....Let's pause the life altering argument of which type TV is better, complete with namecalling, and let me tell you about the deal I stumbled upon today while scouring the stores to see who had what. I'll see if I can change this thread into a poll, to see who would "Deal or No Deal" Happened upon a Vizio 1080i 50" plasma, display unit only, for............. $800.....Like new shape, full warranty + able to purchase the extended warranty as well **Doesn't look like I can change the original post to make this a poll**

Doin' some more lookin', and wanted your guys' opinions again please, as I thought the last thread was very informative, but think it was lost when the site crashed. Pretty much had my mind made up on LCD, but salesman made point of tellin'/showin' me how plasma screens are glass, but LCD's are plastic, like laptops.....When you press on them or rub your finger across the screen, it briefly leaves a pressure point or trail. His point being that they're easier to break. Bear in mind I've got 2 teens, a tween & a toddler Any truth to this, or just a sales ploy.....As he was HEAVILY steering me toward Panasonic plasma they have on special. When I told him I've not had good luck with the longevity of Panasonic products in the past, he went so far as to pull up Consumer Reports to show me their reviews of said TV. He also claimed plasmas were better for sports, as less likely for "trails".....Yet when I stated I thought they'd fixed that problem the last several years, & asked him which of their LCD's he could show me trails on, he replied "none" right now. I just don't like the glare on the plasma screen. Any difference in the picture quality I may or may not have noticed was negated by the distraction of the glare. His offering was the Panasonic TH46PZ85U though the closest thing he had for me to look at was a Pan "several notches down". I keep being drawn by a Sanyo DP46848. The whites are very bright, which also seems to affect the blues & greens, and the picture catches my eye everytime I go to look at it

TopGunRiders/ American Cancer Society Pool Tournament
Fonzie replied to OhCowboy13's topic in Events
Sorry Tom......The kids got too much basketball stuff goin' on tomorrow afternoon, or I'd like to come up & participate. Lost my grandma to cancer, as well as several of my wife's family members ??? -
Agree 100%! Those were my problems with the situation as well. There's such a thing as winning graciously, & teaching your kids about good sportsmanship in the process. Winning doesn't have to be the only life lesson learned...It can be combined with others Then there's the Bobby Bowden school of thought......"It's not my job to stop my offense". That's why I don't feel a bit sorry for his losing a$$ right now.....You reap what goodwill you sow
-
Sooooo......He killed her with no problem, but just couldn't figure out how to do the job correctly on himself?!?

Having coached youth sports the last 10 years; currently jr. high football & basketball......I've been on both sides of this situation, though not to this extreme. Our football team was beating a team by 30+ points this fall. We're a mixed 7th/8th grade team.....our opponent strictly 7th graders. I'll also mention that this was a quality opponent we were playing.....They traditionally have a very good football program, and came back from 12 points down at halftime last year to beat us. We had been VERY conscious of rotating in our younger players once we were up by several TD's, and were using our 7th grade QB, who is a very gifted athlete himself....Most of his "pass" plays end up as QB scrambles for TD's....even against 8th graders. Not unususal, as pass plays at this age are almost more of a gamble than running plays. Our head coach called a pass play during the 4th qtr, which this 7th grade QB turned into another TD run with only a minute or 2 left in the game During the handshake line, the other team's coaching staff shook hands with our boys, then proceeded to make a beeline for our head coach. Things got very heated between the staffs, with the referees commanding everyone back to their sidelines, and I thought for a few minutes we were gonna end up on SportsCenter. They took exception to us calling a pass play & perceived us as trying to run the score up even higher, and wouldn't listen to us when we tried telling them he was our 7th grade QB & the backup to our 8th grader, who we'd pulled much earlier. Bottom line.....We got word shortly after that they no longer want to play our program going forward. This after some of their adult fans (dads) stood behind our bench last year, at their place, heckling our boys & staff On the other side of the equation, my basketball team scrimmaged a very good jr. high here in town last year & got BLOWN OUT! I think the final score was like 90 somethin' to 30 somethin', and we do have some very good athletes on our team, but they just had more, top to bottom. Even their 3rd string was even with our starters. Our boys got very frustrated, as they weren't used to not being competitive, but to their credit, continued playing hard to the end, though it was a real morale buster for them & they were quite down on themselves for several weeks afterward.
