  1. Oh, I voted for "hookers".

Fonzie, you sure you're not a member of bikeland? Making "hookers" as an option makes me think that. They always do that over there.

What's this Bikeland you speak of white man??? Nahhh.......the BlackBird site I hang on, that's standard operating procedure........Any poll has to have "Hookers" as the 4th option, or it's declared an "Invalid Poll" ;)

  2. I have high hopes for Speedracer, but I have a feeling it will be a let down for some reason.

Yeah.....from the trailers I've seen of that one, looks like pretty much the whole movie is either CG, or shot against a green screen

Batman looks alright, but the I'm getting tired of all the films. Almost none have been as good as the first and second.

I agree with what you're sayin', but I thought Batman Begins rocked....Brought the franchise back to legitimacy

There's other movies I'm really looking forward to see late this year and next year: Flash, Justice League, Green Lantern...

Ewwwww.......Not sure if I'd heard about this one. Linky???

  3. Which one do you think will be the biggest "Blockbuster"????

I enabled multiple answers if you have a different answer for both questions. Be sure to tell which is which in your reply below.

I'm leaning towards Iron Man at this point, but I've not seen any trailers for Batman of any substance......Mostly just voiceovers by Michael Cain & Heath Ledger

Here's the link to the other thread that inspired this one..............

  4. Which is going to be better: Iron Man or Batman or Hulk?

As big a Batman fan as I am, from the trailers, I think Iron Man is gonna kick butt!! Robert Downey Jr.'s the schnizzle.....Liked him ever since Less Than Zero. Seems like he's got some really funny lines in this one.

Your post gives me the idea to make this a poll if I can edit it.......or start a new one. Don't see where I can edit to poll, so guess I'll make new one......

or even the new movie with Will Smith.. i think its called Hancock. Heres the link. www.sonypictures.com/movies/hancock

Yeah....That one looks like it'll be a funny, real life take on superheroes

+1 for Ironman! I'm going to 'wait and see' about the Hulk... let my friends see it first and let me know if it's worth the hype.

Agreed. I wasn't that crazy about the first Hulk movie. Too over the top for my taste. I know the comic purists say that's how the Hulk really should be, but for someone who grew up watching the old TV show with Lou Ferrigno, I just thought it was TOO much.

Different director & cast for this one though, so I think they want to re-start the franchise & make up some lost ground

  5. I cant vote because I only have a license that I got by taking the test, riding for 13 yrs., moving out of state and back and taking it again. No MSF. School of Road Riding Experience.

+1 But that's OK.......'Cause according to Mr.Brett.....We're too dumb to fully comprehend the all inclusive choices he laid out for us to vote on

Ofcr. Gruff.......Ummmm...Yeeeaahhhh.......As busy as you are, I'm sure you've got the 30 minutes it takes to go to your local license bureau & pass the short maneuverability test they put you through, so you can ride at night & carry passengers legally. I'm sure you already know as an officer of the law, you don't HAVE to take the MSF course....It's only a recommendation.

Others stated it correctly......You're a LEO.....You should be setting the example for the rest of us to follow

*** I notice you just changed your avatar Ofcr. Gruff???

  6. I'm not going to waste my time with challenges again. Wanna race? Bring it to a track day and let's decide. If you think the street is a better venue, fine. I don't care. Whatever. Challenges get thrown down all the time, but when the time comes to put up or shut up, everyone gets pretty quiet pretty fast...

Is your post directed in response to mine.......'cause it doesn't even seem like you read any of it. You're still focusing on horsepower & racing. That was a very small part of what I wrote.

  7. ......that and the seat looks like it's from the late 80's. I'm sure it's an awesome bike, as is the 'busa, but I just can't get over the looks. IMHO the thing is hideous. kinda like a bastard union of a Ferrari, a snake, and a late 80's motorcycle.

Bear in mind, that vid was euro. The ZX in the states doesn't have the banana seat like that ZZR. And I agree.....If there was one thing I could change about my 'Bird....It's that damn banana seat. Everytime I see a good deal come up on a Corbin Smuggler though, I'm too broke to take advantage of it ;)

As for Lizzard & JRMMiii's comments about these bikes only being good straightliners.......that's not entirely true. JR....It sounds like you drag yours, and the 'Busa is obviously VERY strong at that......but the 'Bird created the class "Sport Tourer" & the 'Busa & ZX14 have followed suit, though I believe they call theirs Grand Tourer & Hyper Tourer respectively.

The 'Bird was the first factory bike to break the 180 mph barrier, and therefore the fastest topender 'til the '99 'Busa came out. The true purpose of these bikes is to be able to throw some soft luggage on, and chew up huge amounts of asphalt comfortably without riding a full blown couch like a GoldWing, so you can still having fun in the twisties when you get there. They're also more than competent "around town/commuter" bikes, and I know many people who take them for track days as well.

I would disagree with your point Lizzard about the liter bikes being a better all around bike. What good are they outside their designated realm of running around town or hitting the track? What's the longest day you've spent in the saddle/most miles you've racked up in a day? What's your odo read?

Last year, SamBusa, some buddies & I rode all the way around Lake Michigan, and actually ended up coming down the Lake Huron side due to weather. I put on 1,200 miles that weekend, and had lots of fun in the twisties as well (I wrote up a ride report if I can find it).

I've got some friends who are about to make the whole IBA Lake Michigan 1,000 next weekend.......in less than 24 hours. Some of these guys are VERY accomplished riders, and though it appears you're a track guy, I'd be willing to bet you'd be surprised how much of a run for your money they'd give you on their 'Birds & 14's in some real world curves. I'm sure they'd be happy to have you if you wanted in on that trip. I also know guys who ride their XX's cross country......many with 75-100,000 miles on the odo's.....and NO chickenstrips.

So while liter bikes are definately sexy as hell, I don't agree they're a better all around bike. As I stated above, I would say that THEY are the ones who only do a few points well............

However, baddest machine constitutes a bike that does it all very well. Not just a few points.
  8. Do you work at the Buckeye Yard? If so what shift? also NS or the other (cant think of the name right now)
NS and CSX are in Buckeye. We work for neither. Work for the I&O out of Lima. Run between Detroit and Cincinnati

    Yeah......What he said ;)

And actually, now I'm at home doin' the Mr. Mom thing the last year. Here's a pic of Daddy's boy a couple weeks ago gettin' a knee down....Even if it is the wrong knee (Notice his Engineer cap.....)!! :D

    :welcome:

I haven't seen the blackbird in years.

Thanx! Yeah....That's why I love her so much.....You don't see many around, and sometimes people don't even know what she is. You can tell a serious enthusiast from the squids when they DO know  She won the online "Reader's Ride of the Month" contest for Two Wheel Tuner last month...........

  9. FWIW........One of the small bike shops in Toledo has a guy they use who actually welds the plastic.....& I'm not talking JB Weld.....I'm talking it actually melts the plastic back together, then he grinds it smooth for paint. Perhaps there's someone in your area who can do the same thing. Was fairly inexpensive........less than $100 for ~4 or 5 welds/repairs IIRC.

I had about a 6" crack in my upper fairing, and several smaller ones that needed repair before going to my painter. I asked him if he could fix them himself with bondo or something, and he felt it wouldn't last long if repaired that way.

  10. How I got my nickname...........Got tagged with Fonzie when I started with the railroad a few years ago....longer hair, dark, slicked back. Those guys are BIG on nicknames. Let it ride 'cause it was better than Gomer, Barney, Rambo, Dahmer (as in Jeffrey) & some of the other ones they gave the guys I work with! At least the Fonz was cool!! Besides...Everyone always thinks I look Italian anyway, even though I'm not at all.

How I ended up with the 'Bird.............

Basically grew up on the back of a bike. Dad had a '76 Honda 750 four as his first bike and absolutely loved that thing. Upgraded to a brand new '80 Suzy GS1000G with the full Vetter tour package.

We went to California, Smokies, and upper Canada with that thing and a Jawa hack on the side for me. He got rid of the Suzy for an '82 Wing. While he respected the Honda "reliability".......he felt the Wing was a bit more tankish than the other two had been, but he still rode the piss out of it....Minnesota, Nova Scotia, etc.

The Honda reliability stuck with me, but I was enamored with the new sportbikes that were hittin' the scene in the mid/late 80's as I was coming of age.......Katana, Ninja, Hurricane......sleek, sexy, powerful!!!

Liked the Ninja & Katana, but always had my heart with Honda! My 1st bike was an '82 Yamaha Vision 550. Bought it for $500 from a previous coworker. It was in good shape, plus shaft drive, water cooled, monoshock, monochromatic fender, V twin for that nice rumble........ahead of it's time. Kept it for 3 or 4 years, but unfortunately always had electrical problems with it.......starting a few weeks after I bought it. I spent more time wrenching on it than riding it, which got VERY aggravating!!

Started working for the railroad 5 years ago which provided OK income, and decided to finally get a new bike. Wasn't sure what though. Friend found the 'Bird for me at another friends. Never heard of it before, but it was a Honda, and the biggest/baddest sportbike they'd ever made........and I was definitely ready for some reliability!! Went over and took her for a test ride........and I was HOOKED!!

    Been love ever since!!!

Pic of what she looked like when I first got her, and some more after her new one off paint job 2 years ago................

  11. Ran up to Toledo tonight to visit his accident scene, as there's no gravesite to go to. Had found a little toy replica of his green Ninja ZX12 that I wanted to leave for him also, as well as pick up the wreath we laid at Christmas.

Nice surprise as I pulled up to the corner.......Looked like someone beat me out there today. His ex-girlfriend had started a bit of a shrine last year at the corner stop sign, but as I've gone back since then, it appeared I was the ONLY one going back. Nothing new had been placed since the initial stuff immediately after the accident, thus the reason I wanted to make sure I got up there today, as I assumed the same would be true.

Gotta assume it was his ex again, as his immediate family is down in FLA.......Made up a nice picture board with some shots of Jeff I'd not seen.....several with his son, along with one of her & him, & a lot of silk flowers. While I was placing the bike in with the rest, the neighbor from the corner house came out to put a flower pot down as well. She's the one who ran out to Jeff while he was lying there, so he wouldn't be by himself. First I've gotten to meet & talk with her, and thank her for her compassion & staying with my friend so he didn't have to die alone

Anyways, May seem kinda morbid, but here's a pic of the "shrine". Didn't come out the greatest, as it was dusk with my cell camera.............

One pitcher down.......Decidin' on whether to make up another

  12. Actually it would be the Amero and it has been discussed by the heads of the US, Canada and Mexico, but that means we would be closer to MexAmeriCanada and that would be bad due to WE are the only WORKING country of the three and I dont want socialised medicine and free movement of illegal imigrants across the entire east and western seaboard of north america.

BINGO!! I've read ALOT of discussion on this. It's not that farfetched either....Look how much the dollar has decreased in value over the last few years, & how much gold has increased over the same period. They know Americans will NEVER go for the idea, so some believe it's being devalued until it happens right before our very eyes without realizing what they're doing to us.

After all, ever since Nixon, we've been off the gold standard, and the only thing actually "backing" our U.S. currency is the faith & credit of the United States Government.....Otherwise it's just worthless paper

  13. what happened legally to the pizza guy?

He was supposedly arrested, and the family was gonna go after him, but they're in FLA, and I haven't heard from them lately what's going on. Need to see if I can look anything up myself from the info in the obit.

Saddest part about the whole situation was his 6 year old son had already lost his mother 2 years earlier.....almost to the day :(
