200 horses! holy crap!, i hope it's a chain drive. I had an "86" and the shaft lash was almost uncontrollable during a burn out, the rear always kicked to the right......bad! BTW- "85" was the first year for the Max.

We said goodbye to Bill in style last night, after going to the scene and washing his blood off the street with Amstel(his beer of choice) we proceeded to take some of his bike parts we found on the roadside and hit the town. We got a little crazy, were kicked out of the same bar twice, talked about Ducatis' and reminisced about good rides and great friends................just like he would have wanted. Bill was a veteran of both gulf wars and the Panama conflict. His funeral is Wednesday with full military honors. This picture was taken last summer after he returned from Iraq, Bill is on the far right. He gave rob (the guy in the middle holding the AR) one of his dog tags as he was getting ready to be deployed to Iraq himself and is over there now. PLEASE ride safe everyone, lets have a safe Memorial holiday remembering those who gave their lives for this country..........both on the battlefield and off.

My condolences man, sometimes life just doesn't make any sense. I just spent a couple hours last night with two of our narcotics officers that were shot through a door while trying to serve a warrant. Fortunately they're going to pull through and the bad guys were caught. Jacked up thing is that one of the shooters is a Columbus city employee(code enforcement) and a former OSU football player!

I just picked up a pair of the Olympia 340 Vented Kevlar Protector gauntlet gloves. Did a track day with them and found them very comfortable, not a bad price either(especially for Iron Pony) at $75.

What about Pegram on the 848? Or are the AMA nationals a different class?

lizard, Nice write up, you WERA? First let me address the brakes, i think your buddies' needed bled, the Brembos are far from shit and will bite you if you're not used to them. They are definitely race/track inspired and since you're a racer they're probably nothing special for you anyway. I spoke with Jason Etter at the track last weekend, he told me about the supposed service bulletin from Ohlins that said the rear DU-511 needs re-valved for competition/track use. I then spoke with Matt Carr yesterday and he stated that he has yet to see a service bulletin but that re-valving the shock would in effect make it a DU-515, giving it a bit more high speed damping. As for the head shake it sounds like you needed some more preload in the rear and/or the ride height raised. The forks are also sensitive to rebound damping, taking a bit out probably would have settled the bike during transition and setting up for corners. I was having some of the same issues in the esses setting up for the keyhole but after Jason tweaked it a bit she settled down. As for the question of is it worth it, that's obviously subjective. Can you get another bike cheaper and tune it to be faster on the track? No doubt, but for someone who mostly rides on the street with the occasional track day it's more about the overall performance and i must admit the Ducati name.
