  1. Get more information on history and maintenance. Missing rotor is kind of a red flag. That in conjunction with the bent peg leads me to believe that it took a spill (especially if the bent peg is on the same side as the missing rotor).

Judging by your willingness to trade in addition to the board members advising you to choose the TL over keeping the katana, leads me to wonder what the seller's motivation is for doing an outright trade for the katana. Katanas are nice bikes, but if I had a TL, I probably wouldn't offer it in this trade, so ask as many questions as you can and make an informed decision.

  2. I've ridden a TL-S, and owned a TL-R. The TL-S is a great, reliable bike with good useable power (meaning you don't have to rev it beyond belief to experience it). The torque output really makes it a fun bike to ride.

That said, the suspension isn't the greatest, but it's not a deal-breaker (especially if the bike's in good condition and your getting a straight-up trade). Just make some adjustments and upgrade when you have the cash.

What kind of condition are both bikes in? What are the specs?

  3. Just play around with different riding positions, and find one that's comfortable and effective. I sit pretty far forward, so the tank keeps me from sliding forward. That also helps when cornering, as I can pivot around the tank to shift my weight in and out of corners, and also helps me keep the balls of my feet/toes on the pegs and not my arches.

  4. '02 RC51 ('05-'06 bodywork and red wheels... Thanks AttackPainter!)

29,??? Miles (give or take due to gearing)

    Sato Banzai titanium exhaust

    TurnOne large capacity carbon/kevlar airbox

    -1, +2 Gearing

    Flapper mod

    PAIR mod

    Soft-rev limiter delete

    CRG Shorty Levers

HRC LadyBird Brake Resevoir mod (nothing more than a clear tube)

Scott's Damper (To be installed once I find time and proper motivation)

  5. "We were told there would be no comment until it could be verified that it was Mia that survived the shots."

I can't imagine having to put a dog to sleep for the second time. I also can't imagine what this statement is implying... What if they put the WRONG rotty to sleep? I can't help but to see a family now pissed off because they brought their dog in for surgery and she was euthanized instead.

OR are they implying that Mia WAS given the shots, but the family was then given the WRONG dog at the end of the procedure. Hence, someone else's dog was in that garage.

  6. Come ride the RC8s at Mid-Ohio on October 5th. I think they are sold out on the 4th from what I was reported. I do know there are spots for the 5th for sure... $275 and all you do is bring gear and you ride!

When's the next one scheduled (preferably one that's on a wknd)?

My forecasted vacation is already tapped for the year...
