  1. I'm in the market for a new communicator. I've been using a Chatterbox and am just tired of all of its issues and cords so it is time to move on. Here are my requirements: Built in FM tuner - I commute and it is nice to listen to music without messing with a second device. Bluetooth - nice not to mess with cords. Wired mic - I wear a full face helmet and the boom on the Chatterbox is a pain in the butt. As I see it this limits me to: Sena SMH5-FM Scala G9, Q2, Q3 Any others? If you have one of these let me know how it works, how good is the tuner, would you buy again and any regrets. Thanks for your help.
  2. Just PM him. I did about the sena recently. In the past week. He has them.
  3. Bell Vortex Helmet, and I'm also looking to buy a Sena SMH10 communication system. Not sure if you guys would carry that or not. Thanks!
  4. Thinking about grabbing one of the Sena bluetooth systems. Either SMH5, or SMH10. To those of you have experience with them, how are they? Can you listen to two devices at once? As in, if I had music playing, could I also hear another rider over the intercom, or GPS?
  5. Thinking about grabbing one of the Sena systems. Either SMH5, or SMH10. To those of you have experience with them, how are they? Can you listen to two devices at once? As in, if I had music playing, could I also hear another rider over the intercom, or GPS?
  6. I grabbed a Sena Smh10 and only used it for a short low speed cruise and I absolutely love it so far. Waiting to see how it'll do on the highway
  7. Thank you nice weather, the bike is now de-winterized, the Sena has been installed in the helmet, new patio furniture is put together and set up and the garage and yard are a bit cleaner!
  8. can anybody familair with the Sena SMH10 answer a question for me: Can you unscrew or unplug the boom mike so that its not inside the helmet. I have very little need for the mike most of the time so I'd rather leave in unplugged if possible
  9. I don't use the Bluetooth to talk on the phone, and rarely listen to music, but I do like having the Sena SMH10 for audio GPS directions (using either my smartphone or the older Garmin GPS I bought from eBay that has Bluetooth capabilities for when there's no signal). The ability to use voice prompts for directions, weather and other misc items is kind of nice.
  10. buy the sena from nate at riders discounts...he gave the best price i could find
  11. I also have this setup and use earplugs. The Sena has an aux input as well if you don't want to use bluetooth. I usually plug the Sena into my Zumo via aux input as it has my tunes on it for longer trips. If I'm doing a day ride, I will either bluetooth to the Zumo or even just my cell phone and listen to music that way. Calls come through pretty decent to if you want that sort of thing.
  12. +1 on Sena smh10 with Nolan N104 helmet. I also use earplugs, and it is nice. No wind noise. You can hear music or take phone calls. You can also hear the vehicles near you, without long term hearing damage.
  13. I keep debating between the conveience of going bluetooth with the Sena SMH10 or keeping the wired option of these: http://www.torkworld.com/products/helmet-speakers/xpro-helmet-speakers/
  14. I have a Sena SMH10 with the speakers in my Nolan N104. With speakers, you'll want to wear ear plugs to prevent the road and wind noise causing long-term damage to your hearing, but I can hear audio just fine even at highway speeds with them. There are a number of options, including simple and cheap wired speakers. Some speakers will have problems with bass or volume, so check the reviews when shopping.
  15. do you guys carry the Sena SMH10? Looking for a price on a single or dual pack if Likwid decides he wants one too
  16. Thanks for mentioning the track strip, it was installed after my "test" of the fit. I was pretty impressed with the bag and the visor sheath that comes with the Star as well. It will be nice to have that for transport to and from track days. Have a couple visors on the way as well One thing I just noticed, the chin seems a little closer than my other helmets, so my microphone for the Sena SMH5 may not play nicely. I'll have to figure out something for that if I want to use the Bell on the street.
  17. I have a Nolan N104 helmet. I have the standard boom mike. I found the Sena on Craigslist, so I just used it the way it came. It seems to work well.
  18. Hmm I'm closer and closer to biting the bullet and picking up the Sena smh10 for this year. What kind of helmet do you have? Did you just get the boom style mike or did you get the extra stick on mike? I'm debating which route I want to go with that
  19. Finally got to test out the Sena. With earplugs in, I could hear everything but wind noise. Even making phone calls at speeds exceeding the freeway speed limit were clear and audible. This is a god setup. Thanks for the feedback.
  20. Yeah, the Sena doesn't have FM... For me, that is a fail.
  21. I have been thinking about getting a Bluetooth communications system for my helmet. I currently use my mp3 player with foam earbuds for protection against wind noise. Does anyone have any comments in using a Sena SMH10 with ear plugs? I am open to other Bluetooth devices, but I would like to protect my hearing for the long haul. I ride a lot of freeway miles. Any advice is appreciated.
  22. I had (have) a 103. It's a modular so it will be heavier and noisier but the convenience of the flip up is nice. What I found out was that Nolan tends to run more round than oval and it would cause a pressure point above my forehead. It wasn't too bad on shorter rides but after a few hours it would tend to become a distraction. I've since moved to a Qwest and like it much better. I have my Sena SMH-10 installed on it (as I also did on the Nolan) and like that combination.
  23. My wife learned to ride this summer. I have been riding for a while too and never took the MSF course, so her and I both did it. Very basic stuff for me, but she learned a lot and had a good time doing it. She started on a Buell Blast and whenever we get some warmer days, I plan on getting her out on the VFR next. I have the SENA comm system and that has been the best way for me to help teach her while riding. We are able to communicate and I can pass on my experience in "real time" to her. All those things you see and avoid because of the experience you have can be communicated to her while you are both on the road. Best of luck, it's a bit nerve wrecking...
