CO State Rep. Diana DeGette (D) "I will tell you these are ammunition, they’re bullets, so the people who have those now they’re going to shoot them, so if you ban them in the future, the number of these high capacity magazines is going to decrease dramatically over time because the bullets will have been shot and there won’t be any more available." (April 2, 2013, Denver Post forum)

ummm.....someone hasn't heard of this thing called "reloading a magazine" :wtf:

This is a perfect example of the idiots elected to public office who don't have a clue about the topic at hand.

She needs to, along with the others like her, STFU and learn about the subject matter first before proceeding with creating a proposal for anything much less a hotly debated topic like new gun control laws.

Somebody tried to help by putting a spin on it:

The backlash led DeGette spokeswoman Juliet Johnson to attempt to clarify that the congresswoman had misspoken, confusing magazines with clips, which are non-reusable devices that store multiple rounds of ammunition together as a unit.

Yeep, also stupid. Didn't help much at all.

Too bad they cut the video before you hear the whole place bust up laughing. The full version is here:

Also the lead-in question was a very intelligent, (paraphrasing) "How does banning future production and sale help when there are already 40million of these things out there?"
