ReconRat
The Brookings InstitutionNorth Korea Collapse ScenariosRegime change in North Korea is inevitable. It is impossible for analysts to know how or when the current leadership will cease to rule the country; a stable and incremental evolution to a more humane regime is hoped for, but we cannot rule out the possibility of a sudden collapse of the North Korean state. Such a scenario is only one of many, and it is probably not even the most likely one, but North Korea’s continued development of nuclear devices makes the cost of mishandling a possible collapse so high that all contingencies must be planned for...1. Locating and securing nuclear materials:2. Restoring order and possibly combating remnants of the DPRK military:3. Providing basic goods and services:...Collapse is likely to imply a contest for power among multiple North Korean factions rather than a literal, complete, and immediate dissolution of authority nationwide...http://www.brookings.edu/research/opinions/2009/06/north-korea-ohanlon Edited April 7, 2013 by ReconRat
ReconRat
The New York TimesNorth Korea Draws New China ScrutinyThe concept of a limited edition of a united USA and China is not far fetched.North Korea is pushing China to the limits, with the talk about a third North Korean nuclear test....Chinese government thinking, said that North Korea must “pay a heavy price” if it proceeds with the test...The test poses a major foreign policy challenge to Xi Jinping, the new head of the Communist Party, who has said he wants the United States and China to develop a “new type of relationship between two great powers.”..http://www.nytimes.com/2013/02/12/world/asia/north-korea-draws-new-china-scrutiny.html?_r=0China is still believing in the "Domino effect" in Asia. Where one after another country falls to a new ideology. That's rather old school and not so relevant in current times. Simple economic warfare is probably more efficient. Which they should know all about by now.
