Repair scuffed/chipped fairings

Okay, so I bounced my bike off of the road surface and now have deep scratches

in my fairings, along with a chip, and a very rough top edge. I'm going to try to fix

the surface and make it paint-ready.

The big question here is, since the bike has already been dropped, will restoring the

paint job to the original paint scheme, with new decals, preserve more resale value

than changing it with a different color and a different look, paint wise?

It's an '08 Suzuki GS 500F with about 5000 miles on it, if that helps. I intend to sell

the bike for some of the money I'll need to upgrade to another one. If changing it's look from

factory to custom, with paint will make it worth less, I don't want to do it, but I don't

like what the cost is on some of these original parts like blinkers and mirrors.
