Well lets look it up, right now.

I do use it for home media. I have 2TB of movies, not counting the 1.8TB of porn, I do video editing as a side job, I do use it for a gaming pc and as a home office.

As far as not making sense about only using a high end pc for gaming, I see no sense in why someone would limit the immersion they get from a low end console when I clearly stated I get significantly more performance over any console on the market.

see, so you agree with me.

personally speaking, if i did even 1% of my work from my home PC in a given year (and i do about 10%), i've more than made up for what i have into it in terms of dollars spent vs earned.

now, like what you're saying: you just like the immersion, level of detail, the "full" experience, or playing multiplayer with friends, whatever... those are all things one can't put a dollar value on.  i'll be the last person to really make any jabs about a hobby (if i added up what i spend on bikes, guns, track days and racing, i'd shit a gold brick).  my point was about playing on the cheap... and for me, playing on the pc IS cheaper because all the costs i have into the computer build and games and whatever is wiped out by the amount i've earned by doing work from it.  my PS3 doesn't do anything to put bread on the table but my PC does.

I agree....it almost makes me want to finally shell out the $$$ for a dedicated gaming PC.

Did this a long time ago when the PS3 and 360 started showing their age (around 2009). I've barely touched a console since. I may get the new consoles if their exclusives interest me enough, but overall, PC's the better platform.

not hating on people who want to game on a PC....just think its ridiculous that people are suggesting that PC gaming is cheaper

Cheaper's relative, and depends on the length of time you're measuring, how many games you purchase and how often, etc. The initial investment in PC hardware costs a lot more, however games, especially when Steam runs their sales are FAR cheaper than console games. Older console games are typically ~$30-40, new $60, and $20 if they're ancient. When steam runs sales, the vast majority of the games in their catalog cost between $5-20. Now, if you use your PC for video editing, any 3D work, photo editing, etc you've already made the hardware investment.

So, console = hardware cheaper, but you'll likely be paying more for games, DLC, and subscription services to play online.

Im not 100% in agreement as i originally built my rig for gaming, everything else has come secondary.

The one nice thing about consoles, at least from my brief experience with PC gaming, is that the number of hackers and cheaters tends to be FAR less than on PC.  Each game may be different I guess, but it stands to reason that the more tightly controlled architecture (both hardware and OS) tends to make it harder for hackers to exploit and easier for people to catch those using these exploits.

This is actually pretty true.  I remember playing Counter Strike: Source on PC and i think 1 of every 10 games I played had someone who could fly through walls and instantly headshot everyone.

Lag switching, modded controllers for rapid fire/recoil mitigation , glitch exploitation, these are all examples of cheating on xbox and ps3.

Aimbots, chames, wall hacks and the above are all over the place in pc.

yes I'm posting this from my GS3
