Striving to take action where Congress would not, the Obama administration announced new steps Thursday on gun control, curbing the import of military surplus weapons and proposing to close a little-known loophole that lets felons and others circumvent background checks by registering guns to corporations.

cmon, someone was gonna post it...

1. It's obama

2. It's gun related

3. It's "executive orders"

that's a trifecta of outrage for teabaggers... the only thing that would have enraged them more was if he somehow let gay people get married or something...

"One new policy will end a government practice that lets military weapons, sold or donated by the U.S. to allies, be reimported into the U.S. by private entities, where some may end up on the streets. The White House said the U.S. has approved 250,000 of those guns to be reimported since 2005; under the new policy, only museums and a few other entities like the government will be eligible to reimport military-grade firearms."

Let's give guns to other countries but our own people shouldn't have them. And the government can be trusted to buy imports but not the people represented. Got it.

i'm pretty sure the fire arms industry gave him a couple bucks and said, "do an EO like we talked about last time and get a blip on the panic radar again".

now, "sell" some more machine guns to egypt, afghanistan, and iraq, barry... daddy needs a new building.

Becuase you have to be a "teabagger" to dislike Obama, infringement of the 2nd amendment and bullshit executive orders? Don't ever call yourself Libertarian again. I find it insulting.

Agreed.

Magz or Obama?

Take your pick!  Maybe BOTH?  :)

Lots of wealthy felons using trust funds to buy machine guns......obama is as worthless as he is, well worthless.

laws in place covering this new law....three I think, felons can't own guns, you can't straw purchase to bypass background check and local fuzz is supposed to have final say on those class III weapons, trust or private corp isn't excluded...

Anyone who can't figure out what the Tea Party truly stands for without resorting to stupid name calling in a lame attempt at using their "intelligence" is in reality a socialist kool-aid drinking fucktard.

A Libertarian this one is not.....a Magtard he is.

The last time off shore mil spec imports were banned, the production moved to the USA. It was a boost to the economy and a boost to the American gun market. Very probable the same will happen this time as well.

Conversely, the previous ban covered this, and not many exceptions were made. This closes those exceptions, I guess. Till another administration's executive order changes it.

edit: The registering to corporation? Don't care. Most of it was movie studios wanting authentic firearms. And companies renting to movie studios. And they have plenty of stock already. (And they probably could get an exception anyway, again.)

The trust route is widely used for suppressors, short barrels and machine guns. I allows anyone listed on the trust to take the item to the range. When you pass away you get taken off the trust. With out it who ever is in possession of the item when you pass is now commeting a felony, and has to pay another 200 dollars and do another transfer. Have a sheriff that things only his boys should have access to suppressors etc. Now your out of luck.

Yeah, they should keep the trust for qualified families. I suppose it's still there, only going to wait even longer now.

Here is your whitehouse.gov petition to try and stop it...

I'd like to see the US made M1 Garand be the exception to the rule, and continue to import those back to us.
