Bald Eagle - Englewood

Check out one of the Bald Eagles that has been hanging out at the Englewood Dam for the past few weeks

another friend was photographing Bald Eagles at Eastwood Lake the same morning that I was making these images in Englewood

I've been seeing (2) juvenile eagles and this one adult at the lake at Englewood Dam

Red Shouldered Hawk was there the other day

It got all Kungfu on a floating leaf mid air

This Merlin Falcon was at Englewood Dam on Friday 9-13-13

first time I've ever seen a Merlin

Friday evening a group of at least (50) of these night hawks passed through

Thank You. I dunno how much longer the Eagles will be at Englewood, lake is evaporating fast and the fish they eat live in that lake, seems like they're almost happy eating the already dead fish that are littering the lake?

I snagged your pic for my Facebook. I love that first eagle shot. I'm not sure on the fish. Maybe it's just an easy meal for them ?

Good stuff! I have to wait for the leaves to fall before I can shoot any of the 3 nest close to me.

I have tons of Hawks and some falcons by me but man I would love to have a Bald Eagles nest somewhere close. I love birds of prey.

A couple of years ago a young male was spotted at the Englewood reserve. I read (not sure where) he was from Indiana. Glad to see they are coming back to the area.

Agreed.  For several years we've had a pair at Highbanks, but apparently this year the chicks didn't make it.

There's a couple in the Marion, Ohio area too.  They set up roost at Poet Nutrition north of downtown.  We see them from the tracks almost daily.

There are several nesting pairs near Cleveland. I know of atleast one in the CVNP and one on the East Branch Reservoir in Geauga Co.

My father saw one pick up the kind quarter of a fawn that had been killed accidentally in his field. Amazing the size of these birds.

 

And yes they are scavengers at least as much as they are fishers. Dead fish just means easy fishing

So they will stick around a draining reservoir as long as the fishing or scavenging is good.

Go take a look around Dye Mill Rd. at the gravel pit. A guy i work with has seen them there a few times this year while on the bike path.

South West side of St Marys they relocated a couple bald eagles there. there is a nature preserve. and they have been there for probably 10 years. Last time I saw one was just a month or so ago. Really awesome birds.

I've heard there's a nest In that area, but I've yet to see one!

The nest is hard to see from the road. it you sit long enough you can follow an eagle into where it lands. but its a nature preserve so you cant get very close. I think they have a 3 story lookout tower though.

I see them every time I goto Leesville lake Petersburg marina. Cool bird to see.

there's an eagle somewhere by me.  I hear it all the time. I've yet to see it.  but the screech is very distinctive to those so I know it's one.

 

thought this was him but it's just a vulture giving me a show.
