PT Cruiser hand brake

 Does anyone know anything about fixing handbrakes or know of a place that won't rip me off to have it fixed? It is a 2001 PT Cruiser.

It started out having less and less tension. Got to the point there was tension but brake not keeping car from rolling even when on only a very slight incline. Now there is absolutely no tension at all, car even rolls back in level garage.

It's supposed to be self-adjusting but cannot find anything about it in the user manual or Chilton or Haynes.

We've already checked the bit on the back wheel and it appeared fine but when adjusted slightly, it still didn't make any difference.

Thanks!

You need to pull the rear disc off and adjust the shoe tension. The rear should be disc brakes with a shoe parking brake. (they are inside the round part in the middle)

I believe that's what we already tried. Don't think at this point the cable is connected to the handle.
