Bad324
Has anyone heard if this? My current employer sent an email saying they are required by the DHS to maintain on file one of these forms for each employee.I've never heard of this before and not sure if it's some bullshit or just some new thing slipped into the joke of Obamacare that I wasn't aware of since we closed shop on our company. Tpoppa
It's a real form. Nothing to do with O'care.

mello dude
I've changed jobs several times in the last 3 years and every time, I had to do an I-9. Its a proof of citizenship status doc for the Homeland Security department. The person starting the job has to provide 2 photo IDs to proof legal status. The employer has to sign off that they inspected the photos and sign it as certification.
ReconRat
Lots of places have been doing something like that since around 1990. Too many fake social security numbers and stuff.

snot
All my employers have done this too. My last employer claimed they "lost" some of the forms. A couple of people got upset and their forms were "found" Edited November 18, 2014 by snot
mango_sv
They want you to fill it out now because they are getting fined for not having it on file for you. My job had the same thing happen. http://www.uscis.gov/i-9-central/penalties
