imagineer
I must be subconsciously trying to avoid work today because I’ve got a myriad of goofy ideas breaking in and interrupting what I get paid to do. The current distraction is rear brake foot lever position. On the Bandit, with the current position of the brake lever, I end up hanging my right toe under the lever. It’s a little cumbersome to pivot my toe out and lift it on top of the foot lever when I need to apply the rear brake. (I should add that I recently installed a set of Buell XB12 foot pegs that lowered my feet about an inch.) So, the question of the moment, if there’s enough adjustment available, should I lower the brake lever such that with my foot in normal position on the peg, the lever is below my toes (such that to apply the brake I’d simply press down). Probably a stupid question, but again, I’m avoiding responsibility at the moment.
Tonik
Be warned, this is a trick question. Do you use the rear brake enough that this even matters?
Tpoppa
The XB12 pegs are drop pegs, something near 3/4." Lower your brake and probably shifter by the same amount. I keep my rear brake low enough that I don't touch it unless I mean to.
imagineer
On the bandit, I use the rear brake probably more than I should. On the cruisers, I almost never use the rear brake (unless I'm doing slow maneuvering). Thanks, Tpoppa, that's the answer I was hoping for. zx3vfr
How long are your toes? I keep way up on the balls of my feet often borderlining tiptoeing on the peg. When I need to touch the rear brake in a parking lot or adjust in a turn I slide my door forward
Tonik
I was going to mention buying a used arm and cutting it in the middle and having a good welder add a section in the middle. I have done that, and on my current bike the brake foot pad was huge. Cut half it off.

Cut half it off. I may try this too, if I can find a sacrificial brake lever. I'm decent enough at MIG & TIG on aluminum to make an attempt. I already did something similar on my C90; made a custom shifter and brake pedal from waterjet cut steel. LolI near tiptoe the right peg when a significant loss of speed isn't immediately impending.
Helmutt
I run the same Buell drop pegs on my ninja, but never bothered to adjust the rear brake pedal. I can count on one hand how many times I've used my rear brake in the 6 years I've owned my bike. 24k miles and the oem rear pads still look new
