o-no-moto
I removed the mounting puck for my sony action cam from my old helmet to my new one. I knew the old sticky stuff wouldn't work so i tried to use 3m adhesive double sided strips. That didnt really work so well. Andbody have any luck swapping pucks from bike to bike and know what to use?
TimTheAzn
I've never tried to re-use a go-pro mount. But I'm fairly sure 3m is what comes on the back of authentic go-pro mounts. Edit: They arent 3M strips. o-no-moto
I should add the 3m tape was for automotive trim and i had to use 3 pieces that were 1/2 inch wide each. I had coverage over the entire piece but with the weight and wind i know it wont hold.
TimTheAzn
I'd probably just buy another mount, wouldnt want my cam flying off. Safety wire in my case helps with that though.
what
New gopro sticky mounts are pretty cheap. I think you get 6 to a pack - 3 curved and 3 flat for $20. https://www.amazon.com/GoPro-Curved-Adhesive-Mounts-Official/dp/B009PK9UWA
jschaf
3M VHB tape available at McMaster-Carr. You'll have to select which thickness & width you want. This stuff is used in the automotive industry to replace what used to be spot welds. Your camera will not fall off with this tape.
JustinNck1
I've re-applied new 3M tape without issue. Gotta get the right thickness. I also run a tether like the ones in the link below if I am nervous about where I am mounting it. https://www.amazon.com/BeneU-Tethers-Accessory-Adhesive-Stickers/dp/B00W4XTWTQ/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1487392054&sr=8-3&keywords=gopro+tether Edited February 18, 2017 by JustinNck1
