Rotarded1647545491
Well I've finally found out what happened at the track. I 'sploded a spider gear in the thorsen differential. Just another opportunity to upgrade. Now lets see how many 6000 RPM launches it takes to twist an axle! tongue.gif

Nitrousbird
Perhaps your car had the new "Platinum Edition" differential fluid??
Brandon
damn spider gears, they alaways go. You going to upgrade your axles why your at it, or wait till they break as well?

We did the same thing, with the same symptons in the mustang last Friday (it has a thorsen diff in it). 1.5 60's on drag radials in a 3800lbs car will do that. smile.gif You need something other than a thorsen diff. Like a ford 8.8" solid axle.

Got a S4 TII clutch type diff.. As strong as, and identical to, a Kaaz. Drops right in and is rebuildable also! Installing solid poly diff. mounts as well. Tractor
You could always weld the spider gears and side gears together and to the carrier. Evan

Evan THATS A GREAT IDEA! That way when the welds break you DIRECTLY into the wall! I wouldn't ever even willfully go down the track next to a car that had welded spider gears and ran anything faster than 14's. Not to mention on a IRS car it would destroy CV's in a few hundred miles. Rob
COLD AIR
WE went 10.50 with welded spider gears, back in the day
