Guest Varioram
There is no contest, Carrera Gt would dominate the S7. I am no doubt bias towards porsche but just look at the numbers. I mean in most of the reviews I have read the S7 is awsome and all but the Carrera GT is beating the enzo around Nurburgring. I really think the S7 is put together poorly, If you look at the S7R the thing breaks down almost every race. I would much rather take the engineering coming out of Stuttgart than some wanna be who has been working on mustangs for less than 20yrs. Like I said probably bias but its true. NO PUN TOWARDS MUSTANGS AT ALL but I wouldnt trust a supercar built by someone who only has experience with mustangs I mean come on.

In December 1999, Saleen decided to build an American supercar, and the S7 concept appeared in all its gilled glory at the Monterey Historics eight months later, in August 2000. Last year, the Saleen S7R racing car, which does not differ much from the street S7, made an auspicious debut, winning nineteen out of thirty-two races, including its class in the 12 Hours of Sebring, and four championship titles.who cares if they work on mustangs? porsche got started hopping up beetles (356) and lamborghini used to build tractors... tongue.gif the carrera GT isn't even raced... recklessOP
more interesting info: A niche manufacturer like Saleen does not create a car completely from raw materials on its own. The S7's suspension, as well as its spaceframe chassis, which is visible through the engine window, were developed by racing-car specialist Ray Mallock Ltd. in England. The car's state-of-the-art aerodynamics were tested in a Scottish wind tunnel, and the brakes were supplied by Brembo. The six-speed manual transmission comes from the Texas firm RBT, also the source of gearchange hardware for the Italian exotic Pagani Zonda (October 2001) and the Ford GT40 concept. The V-8 is completely reengineered by Saleen from Ford's small-block V-8.
Jimmy Notchback
Winning 19 out of a total 32 races doesn't sound like "breaking almost every race".
Guest Varioram
recklessOP, I didnt say that the S7 didnt do well. there is a bit of difference between bringing the car to the pits, fixing it, and then keep racing and when your on the street and have to fix it...the garage is a little further away. and Porsche may have started by swapping parts from VW's but they have been one of the benchmark sports cars. Having 14 makes and team world championships, 8 long distance world championships, 3 IMSA supercar-series championships, 6 German racing championships, 20 european hill climbing championships, 3 formula 1 driver championships, 26 formula 1 victories, 20 daytona 24 hour victories, 17 sebring 12 hour wins, 11 targo florio victories, 4 monte carlo rallye wins, 2 paris dakar wins, and holding the record for the most 24 hour of Le Mans wins at 16. I think its safe to say Porsche earned its spot among the best cars in the world.

recklessOP
unreliable cars do not win endurance racing championships... smile.gif porsche's past success doesn't change the fact that the carrera GT is still an unproven car... Science Abuse
Originally posted by Mowgli: Eh, pass on them both and buy a fast car: the Ford GT. graemlins/finger.gif yeap, almost as fast at the Carrera GT, and lacking the refinement. The Saleen S7s aerodynamics were tested in scotland, yes, but they were developed a decade ago by Mclaren. Steve Saleen even admitted to ripping off the lines of the F1, a car that has been without peer for 10 years, though car makers like Porsche are actualy developing cars at the cutting edge of technology. Saleen is standing on the shoulders of geniuses, making no headway, just stealing ideas. The S7 uses a simple ass big block making marginal horse power, not hard to make that reliable. It also races in classes that are remarkably well suited to it. Tell saleen to bring one to Le Mans, if he's a man. graemlins/thumb.gif btw, having seen one "intimately", yes, the build quality is poor, certainly nothing like the Carrera GT.
