martindc1
...at the autocross event Sunday. It was actually a pre-production vehicle and was labled as such by a small sticker on the windshield. The car was brought there by Karen Rafferty, a GM rep., who also drove Danny Popp's Z06 in ASP ladies and kicked ass. Sorry no pics, but if I would have had a computer I would have posted about it asap on sunday. Observations: Sharp, has a scoop on the hood, heat extracters behind the front wheels, brake cooling scoops for the rears. It had 19 inch rims with what appeared to be 14 inch rotors with 4 piston calipers on the front. It had a long rear window but I don't know how it compares to a regular C6. Unfortunately I was working the course while the hood was up.
Mallard
She brought that car to the Toledo event too back at the beginning of June. She's the head of Corvette Marketing. The new Z06 is sweet. There are a few floating around my area. (much like everything else that is not out yet smile.gif )
martindc1
She can drive, that's for sure.
JuicedH22
It also has a butterfly plate in the exhaust near the tailpipe that opens up (kind of like some sports bikes do) for hard accel. I saw one in May in Detroit at the FSAE competition...
martindc1
I didn't think to look at the exhaust, with the on-the-go environment of the event.
martindc1
BTW the figure of $70k was thrown around. Which could all be heresay. I guess I am not within the Corvette loop as much these days. I'm sure some of the Corvette guys here know most of the details. But I will say this: My plan is that in around 4 years I am going to buy a new Mustang to compete in a stock class (especially if they bring out a N/A aluminum block 4V car like the Mach 1). However, with this new 'vette on the horizon that is a little more up in the air. We'll see how classing goes. As of now it looks like the Z06 is going straight to Street Prepared. Nitrousbird
This is all public info, do a search. MSRP for a "base" Z06 is 65k (which is still chock full of options). Loading it to the kilt brings you a little over 70k. Exhaust has a vaccum actuated muffler "bypass" once you are at a high enough load/RPM. The 4 piston calipers also have individual brake pads for each piston. smile.gif Good fairly current link to 06 Z06
Rob1647545496
4 piston calipers in the front?????..... you mean the rear, it's supposed to have 6 piston calipers in the front with individual brake pads. heres some info http://www.corvettesbyrickdaniel.com/C6Z06INFO.html
yotaman88210
Damn 8 pistions under the hood and 12 behind the tires...WOW!!!

Opps, my bad. Yeah, 6 up front w/ 6 brake pads, 4 out back w/ 4 brake pads. 06 Z06 >> 04 CE Z06 (best of the C5 Z06's). Of course, for a 10k price premium, it should be.
