Mallard
Pasted from another site. They beat the McLaren F1 with a 640hp Carbed Chevy V8! http://www.ultimasports.co.uk/record/record1.jpg http://www.ultimasports.co.uk/record/record2.jpg http://www.ultimasports.co.uk/record/show1.jpg http://www.ultimasports.co.uk/record/record4.jpg http://www.ultimasports.co.uk/record/performance2.jpg http://www.ultimasports.co.uk/record/performance5.jpg PART 1: ULTIMA SPORTS LTD BREAKS 0-100mph-0 WORLD RECORD The Ultima Factory have smashed the production car world record in an Ultima GTR for sprinting to 100mph and back to zero again leaving all other super cars in its wake along a 1.8-mile runway at Bruntingthorpe Proving Ground, Leicestershire. Driven by Ultima Director, Richard Marlow, the factory built Ultima GTR set a new world record time of 10.3 seconds to achieve 0-100mph-0 smashing the previous record by half a second. The British built super car stormed from 0-60mph in 2.8 secs and reached 100mph from standstill in an incredible 5.9 secs before coming back to rest a mere 4.4 secs later. All of the times were set by a standard, factory built, fully road legal, road tyred Ultima GTR built using all of the high spec factory specified and proven parts. The car was even equipped with heavy luxuries such as air conditioning but no traction control devices; launch control systems or ABS braking aids were used. The car was fitted with its recommended Porsche G50 5 speed transaxle and normally aspirated 640BHP 377ci Chevrolet V8 engine which is a standard offering by the factory from its official engine suppliers American Speed at www.amerspeed.com. This record time beats the legendary £630,000 McLaren F1 road car by well over a full second at less than one tenth of the cost! Richard Marlow, Director of Ultima Sports Ltd said “The 0-100mph-0 test is believed by many to be the ultimate test for any car and is a true indicator of a cars all round performance ability. We haven’t strapped any timing gear onto one of our cars for a few years now and decided that the time was right to demonstrate to everybody how we have been successfully developing our product over the years and gained a world record in the process. We also wanted to achieve over 200mph at the relatively short Bruntingthorpe runway on the same day however severe rain and thunderstorms curtailed this for now but it didn’t stop Ted from achieving a rather interesting 192mph pass in the wet on standing water with over 1500rpm still available!” The test was conducted, overseen and verified by an official from Datron Technology and the latest state of the art GPS timing gear was utilised to achieve and ensure maximum accuracy. A submission has been made to the world-renowned Guinness Book of Records. Three videos of the record breaking run can be downloaded here: The world record run (3883 kB) http://www.ultimasports.co.uk/record/outside.mpg View from inside the car (3825 kB). http://www.ultimasports.co.uk/record/inside.mpg View from behind the car (6451 kB). http://www.ultimasports.co.uk/record/rear.mpg Official signed timesheet from Datron Technology is available in Adobe PDF format. http://www.ultimasports.co.uk/record/ultimarecord.pdf PART 2: ULTIMA SPORTS LTD SETS WORLD BEATING PERFORMANCE STATS The Ultima Factory have set a catalogue of devastatingly fast world beating performance figures this week using the same 640bhp Ultima GTR which smashed the 0-100mph-0 world record. Ultima utilised the facilities at the world renowned Motor Industry Research Association (MIRA) and Bruntingthorpe Proving Ground to set the times. All tests have been strictly conducted, overseen and verified by an official from Datron Technology who are acknowledged by the Guinness Book of Records and the motoring press as official timekeepers. The Ultima GTR was fully road legal, fitted with road tyres, built to a standard factory specification and it was driven to and from each test venue. The world beating performance figures obtained are: 0-60mph 2.7secs 0-100mph 5.5secs 0-150mph 11.8secs 30-70mph 2.0secs 0-100mph-0 10.3secs 100mph-0 Braking 3.9secs Speed Achieved 204mph on the Bruntingthorpe straight Top Speed 231mph est. (gearing limited) Standing ¼ mile 10.5secs @ 140mph terminal * Engine Chevrolet V8 377cu in Power 641bhp Torque 545ft/lbs Transmission Porsche G50 * NOTE- The standing quarter mile time would be at least two tenths of a second faster if tested at an official drag strip as it uses a timing system which is configured differently to the Microsat GPS equipment operated by Datron. Also a seasoned drag strip would provide increased traction, which would reduce times even further. Please click on the link to view the attached official Datron timesheet demonstrating the above figures. Please click on the link to view an external view video of the Ultima GTR travelling at over 200mph. Director of Ultima Sports Ltd, Richard Marlow, who was the driver of the car during the record runs, said “To put the figures into perspective this 640bhp Ultima GTR is the fastest road legal car Datron Technology have ever timed by a huge amount and they have tested some of the most exotic supercars on the planet. We were for example a full second quicker than the £630,000 McLaren F1 to 150mph and several seconds more rapid than all other super cars. No car not even the McLaren F1 that Datron have tested could accelerate sufficiently well to actually even achieve 200mph on the relatively short Bruntingthorpe 1.8 mile runway from a standing start but the Ultima GTR managed it with ease and had plenty left in reserve. We are also confident that there is significant room for improvement in our 0-100mph-0-world record, as we have trimmed over four tenths of a second from our 0-100mph time during recorded runs on the mile straight at MIRA. During testing the Ultima repeatedly recorded world breaking times and for example achieved over ten 0-100mph runs in the 5secs bracket back to back. We have been forced to work around the recent bad weather to achieve the results and the recorded figures have created a real stir in the automotive world” Ted Marlow, Managing Director, commented, “We are continuously developing our product and these sensational figures help to demonstrate this fact. The record times were set in an Ultima GTR that was built with standard factory components which means that the Ultima that was tested was a standard car from the price lists and not a specially tuned hybrid. American Speed - our official OE engine suppliers, who built the 640bhp world record-breaking engine also work a policy of continuous development. They have just released today an Ultima specification 700 bhp 377cu.in and a 720 bhp 406 cu.in engine option, which utilise amongst other changes lightweight titanium valves that help boost power output. This was the result of extensive research and testing on their in house dyno and American Speed have succeeded in building another engine that although making the Ultima devastatingly quick will ensure that the car is a pleasure to drive at normal road speeds. The Ultima GTR that set the 0-100mph-0 world record has since been busy with show appearances at Donington and for the whole of last week in an exhibition at MIRA where it was displayed alongside a current spec Jaguar F1 car” Ultima hopes to be invited to appear in the next series of Top Gear so that they can hand over the keys to the Stig and demolish the current lap record. The 204mph run (5,109 kB). http://www.ultimasports.co.uk/record/performance1.mpg Ultima GTR fly by at over 200mph (3,217 kB). http://www.ultimasports.co.uk/record/performance2.mpg Official signed timesheet from Datron Technology is available in Adobe PDF format. http://www..co.uk/record/ultimaperformance.pdf
