stolen 5.0
went to install newer processor into my computer. i had a 667 celeron and i think i put in a roughly 850 celeron. well after i put in the 850 it just came on to the hp invent sign and didn't do anything else. so i figured i'd switch back to my old 667. now the same thing is happening, blue hp invent startup screen is all that i get. any help? desperado
there is a keystroke to get into BIOS, either F2 ot delete is typical. If you can get into BIOS, do a load default settings in BIOS. That will typically take care of that.
Nate1647545505
if the above didnt work, try popping out the calculator type battery, the cmos battery. check all your connections, reseat the RAM, yadda yadda yadda http://conferences.computer.org/bioinformatics/hp.gif = graemlins/gay.gif
BlackC50
You are most likely are going to have to go in to CMOS setup and set defaults like Desperado said, I doubt the CMOS battery is the problem since you said it was working fine earlier. But check your connections also.
BlackC50
Question is, Did you happen to push on the processor very hard to put it in? Cause I am pretty sure that the celerons are ZIF processor and if you pushed on it then there is a chance some of the pins were bent. Nate1647545505
HPs are kinda picky though.. All of the ones i maintained usally needed to have their minds erased.... I'd reccomend throwing that thing out the window.
stolen 5.0
pulled the battery out for 5 minutes, still doesn't work can't get into bios either
desperado
ok time to confuse the thing. Take out all but one stick of memory, disconnect the harddrive ribbon cable, the floppy cable, and any cards, other than the video card out of the machine and boot it. IF that don't get you at least into BIOS, you may have cooked something on the board.
