controler
Which is more important: oil change every 3000 miles or oil change when its black? The reason I ask is, I only use Castrol GTX in the honda, and I easily go 3500-4000 miles before its even black-ish and that little honda motor doesn't burn or drip any oil. Everyone has their own opinion about oil changes, but I thought I would ask here before asking Tom and Ray Magilozza.
Dave1647545494
depends on how you drive what fuel system you use etc. the oil in my skylark turns black in about 1000 miles but it gets contaminated by fuel except when its at wide open throttle I personally change oil every 2500 miles or so
Guest stevil
I go by color usually. When it needs changed, I change it.
gillbot
Color isn't a good indicator of oil condition. If you really want to know, get it tested. If not just change it every 3-6K and be happy.
controler
No one has any technical explainations on this issue?
Lustalbert
just change it at 3k, hell go synthetic and change every 6 mos. more a factor of wear, as your engine breaks down the oil, it may not change color, but will not be near as lubricative (sp)
