Ryoga
I've just about pulled my hair out with this one. The truck is used and the cruise control hasn't worked on it since we bought it. I've checked all the normal stuff (fuses, the wires that I could find, etc) but no go. When I press the 'on' I would expect at the very least for it to show cruise on the dash (as I believe there is an idiot light?) but I don't even get that. Anyone know their stuff on the cruise control operation on these puppies and want to lend a hand in the trouble-shooting? If anyone is willing to help out there could be, gasp...BEER in it for ya! rl
It's the clock spring in the steering wheel I bet. Does the horn work? Does the truck have an air bag? It's a VERY common problem with lightning's, $100 part. I havent had cruise or a horn since I bought my truck (mods come first dammit!). The horn works in it, but there is no air bag in it.

If no fuses are blown, my guess is on the clock spring. Without a air bag it might be cheaper for the part, too.

I've actually presented this question to them before there. These were the responses but I never resolved the issue: http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=64130&highlight=cruise+control
