Chad is Dead
I'm moving out into my first house in August and want to know what cable/internet service is good and cheap. I dont need any fancy cable w/ 700 channels. Just somethign pretty basic. I'm moving off of Morse rd on Heaton. Its close to Cleveland ave. What is recommended around that area? Lustalbert
get road runner, take the filter tap out of the line, get free basic (2-70ish) cable. not that I would ever suggest actually tampering with the cable system.

Chad is Dead
Not that I would do that but if someone wanted to. Would they just order straight up road runner? And then how does one go about taking out the filter tap and is it hard at all? And would could be the consequences if the cable company found out. Lustalbert
For anyone misguided enough to attemmpt such a thing: Just get road runner, removing the filter is easy. its just a mater of where they put it. Wehn you get road runner installed, wait a week or 2 so the time warner inspector can come out and verify the install was done properly, then remove it later. the rarely check, if ever after the inital inspection. The filter tap itself is just a silver "can" about 3 inces long and an inch in diamter that is installed in the cable line, uses standard coax cable ends, and takes about 30 seconds to remove with simple tools (carecent wrench, leatherman, ect)

Nitrousbird
WOW > TW. (Road Runner is just a third party support/web/email hosting service, people love to buy into that marketing crap though.......). BTW, tampering w/ cable filters is a Class 4 Felony if I remember correctly. smile.gif
Chad is Dead
So how bad is a class 4 felony. Just wondering even if thought I would never do it.
Lustalbert
its like a 6000 fine if the cabe company pushes it and talks the judge into giving you the max. For thier time and trouble, the guy that finds it will just put a fresh filter in, and thats the end of it.
