99BlownYellowGT
Everytime i open or close my garage door it never wants to stop. When it hits the bottom it comes right back up.When it hits the top it makes a grinding noise and doesnt stop. This is the 1st time ive had a garage, so i know nothing about the doors. Is there something i can do? Thanks Jason
Alex1647545498
Pull the rope thing and disengage your garage door from the chain. Then hit the button to close the door. See if the motor would stop after some distance. If it does then it just mean that your chains skipped or something. You would need to take it off and adjust it so that when it stops your door meets the floor. If it doesn't... I don't know, buy another one. Akula
If it is old, there is a micro-switch on the wall at the end of the opener track. Could be that the switch has failed. What kind of opener?
99BlownYellowGT
Well as i was trying to do the 1st thing Mr. 2 recommended.I black piece of plastic fell off of the chain. Now it wont engage the chain at all. It appears to be a piece that goes where the hook engages the chain. The motor does stop though when its disengaged. Its a genie.
Sam1647545489
All it needed was adjusted. There are adjustment screws on the side. You prolly broke the piece the hooks it to the chain. If it is an old opener I would prolly just get a new one. If you need help installing it let me know, I have done at least 5 now and they are no sweat..
