Buck531
Ok. I got a wireless router. Netgear. Works great and all, but ever since I installed it, when I go to my home web page on Any pc connected to the router, it's slower than dog shit. The server I'm using is about 3 inches away from my main PC. Now, when someone else access it outside my router, it's fine and is up to speed. When I browse to the server to the drive letter I have assigned, it flies too. Only when I do HTTP browsing on it internally, it's slower than a 28.8k modem. It ONLY happened after I instaled the Netgear router. Everything is fine on the server and it's working good. Any ideas? Its driving me f'n nuts. Mr. Jones
Does the router have any http filtering / web filter features ? Is the wireless the ONLY router you have? Can you convert it to a Access Point only ? THats what I do @ HOme. You can run into routing issues when you have 2 "routers" on the same network. The devices connected to each one try to use it as its default gateway. If you already have a router..try and convert the wireless one to an access point only, and the clients will simply pull DHCP or participate on the network through your standard router/switch. HTH.. Buck531
I took out the Linksys all together..and sold it. the Netgear is the only thing on the network. I can't do access point only as I have my server and my main PC wired into it. (no wireless). I'll look at the web filtering crap.
