Guest doggunracing
I have a log manifold with a 1/2" thick mild steel head flange. I need it cut between the ports (to reduce warping) and wondered how to cut it. I have a circular saw, but don't know if a badass blade would even cut it. If anyone has something that will cut this, that would be appreciated also. I'll see if Tinman can do it, but he's usually pretty busy. Guest doggunracing
Okay, I just read that circular saws are way too fast to cut steel. Would just a good blade on a hacksaw work? I know it would take a while. Is it advisable to use wd40 to cool the blade while cutting?
Science Abuse
Abrasive cutting wheels are the bomb, diggity. Fit one to the angle grinder or circular saw of your choice. Wear long sleeves and face protection. FACE PROTECTION, not just eye protection.
Guest doggunracing
Any idea of where to get one for a 7.25" circular saw? I didn't see one on Lowes' website.
Lustalbert
an abrasive wheel like a masonary cuting wheel would work just take it slow
Guest mudbutt
you can also use a portaband. A sawzall will work but will take forever
desperado
I have a portaband if you want to bring it out. I also have a TIG welder if you are wanting a new flange or whatever welded to it as well as the proper rod to make the weld.

Guest doggunracing
Anyone have a belt sander that will sand the flange flat all at the same time? It would have to be ~ 16" x 3".
