Two weeks ago, as reported in CSP Daily News, a supplier mistake resulted in some customers at the Midland, Mich., Meijer fueling station putting the wrong fuel in their vehicles. In Newark, Meijer's fuel supplier inadvertently filled the station's premium unleaded fuel holding tank with diesel fuel and vice versa, said spokesperson Steve VanWagoner. Regular unleaded fuel was not affected by the mistake. Only diesel, premium and midgrade fuel were affected. By Thursday evening, about 21 motorists had called Meijer to inquire about the mixup, according to the store. Meijer has contracted with three local auto service shops to help car owners check out the vehicles, though the owners are free to go to a shop of their choice, said Meijer store manager Randy Roberts. Motorists will be “fully reimbursed” for repairs that are needed, he said. “We will work with them individually.”Damn, what would diesel do to a fuel system such as mine? Nitrousbird
Man, had me for a second; I didn't look at the date until after I read the first post. I was kinda pissed; Avalanche was on the fuel light today and I filled it up at $2.64/gallon...if that price was around here right now, I'd be mighty pissed! RangerTurbo
I saw gas at .50 down in KY on our way to lake Cumberland about 20yrs ago. Cheapest I've paid was $.79/gallon around summer of 2000 when for some reason the gas companies were having some sort of price war and prices dropped BIG time. Can remember waiting in line for an hour at a station because all the farmers were filling up EVERYTHING they owned that could be drug in. But when I started driving in 2000 gas was at ~$1.15. Could fill up for ~$20 and go for almost two weeks back and forth to highschool.... and bitched about it then. Now it's $50 a week.
