Time Warner vs. Wow vs. others! HELP!

Recommended Posts

What are you guys using for cable tv/internet? I am moving soon, and trying to get all my ducks in a row. I am looking for average monthly cost, which is better? What about speed and quaility of picture? Any other ideas would be great.

Thanks,

Tom

warner, digital cable basic channels and RR, just went from $67.00 month (matched WOW for a year) to $90 a month...I need to call and threaten to cancel again. No problems here with service or pic

I have had both

WoW - better signal analog cable signal than TW. Some of this may be the wiring to my house as WOW seemed to use a better cable.

Roadrunner vs. WoW internet - speeds about the same. RR might have less latency. The nice thing about RR is that the news-server is unlimited downloads. The bad thing about the the news server is that it frequently is missing articles. With WoW you are limited to 6 GB/month, and I never recall seeing dropped articles. Because of the news server I say advantage goes to WoW.

Digital cable - WoW has more channels included in it's digital lineup (Sundance, and some of the other movie channels). I also thing it's digital signal was a little better.

HDTV - TW, when I switched back to them, had more channels. I don't know if WoW has caught up yet.

I prefer WoW over Time Warner, but I switched back to TW because they gave me a $60/month deal - digital cable + HD + RoadRunner. At the time, for WoW, I was paying a little more than 100/month.

If I had to pay full price, then I would be using WoW, and not TW.

When did this happen? When I was using Wow (a year ago), the routers and backbone were different - WOW internet was not using Roadrunner backbones at the time.

WOW has nothing to do with Road Runner. NOTHING.

We offer a number of HD channels:

- CBS HD

- NBC HD

- OSU HD

- UPN HD

- HD Net

- HD Movie Channel

- Discovery HD

- ESPN HD

- Wealth HD

- HBO East HD

- Cinemax East HD

- Starz East HD

Of course that lineup will keep growing as well.

I will say if the competition has to price match/price beat by droping their normal prices to get business, that's saying something.....

Our new phone service has been taking off like mad; I've had a ton of customers tell me no one could touch our prices w/ the bundled phone/cable/internet. I'm not a sales person, so I don't keep track of what the competition is charging or every little package price we have going on. But if the customers are saying we are cheaper after price shopping.........

When comparing Digital Cable services, we are the only ones that offer the Starz/Encore channels as part of the package. And IMO, Starz/Encore tend to play a better variety of movies than HBO/Showtime/Cinemax do individually (and I have all the premiums, so I can fairly compare). So having the Starz package adds a lot more value to the digital lineup than what the competition is offering.

We offer 4 speeds of internet too; 112k, 500k, 4Mbps, 6Mbps. I normally suggest 500k for the average user, 4Mbps for the heavy user/downloader, and 6Mbps for the heavy online gamer/LAN party guys/people needing the very max in bandwidth.

As for good package pricing, you can get basic telephone (unlimited local and long distance included), 4Mbps intenet service, and digital cable for $117.99.

I looked on Warners website; they don't list prices on their site, so it makes it hard to compare. I did look at their HD lineup; they offer 4 channels we don't in HD - Showtime, TNT, INHD, and INHD too......BUT, they don't offer Starz HD, Cinemax HD, or Wealth HD, so it pretty much evens out.

Well then how come i have Road Runner software, and Roadrunner setup?

I have WoW

You might have software still installed from when you had their service. But trust me, WOW has NOTHING to do with Road Runner. NOTHING. We never have, and never will.
