billzie
Howdy folks, noob here. I moved to Athens from Chicago, what a change. There are NO places down here to get anything done. For parts crap ass Auto Zone, and a small one at that, is about the best it gets. The local boneyards are closing and the one big one the old man died a while back and his son sucks ass, no deals, doesn't really even want to deal with the public. And, for misc stuff, forget it all together. Anyway, these are my rides: 69 Nova, only option was the 307 v8, bought 2 weeks before I was born by my great-uncle who put 12,000 mi on it the first year, he died in 70, my Grandpa inheirited it, when he died in 95 it had 24,000 mi but spent its' life sitting on Chicago streets (rust and crushed roof from construction mishap), the cousins though there'd be a fight over the car but when they saw it they gladly let me have it, hell I was the only one to drive and take any care of it in the 5 years before Gramps died, anyway it's a total trainwreck gonna take 20 years to fix (ten left), been on blocks for five years and just collecting the parts to do the work. 79 Camaro Z/28, sitting next to the Nova, got side swiped by a semi on the highway, took the settlement money to live on while I was out of work, got most of the parts to fix. 91 Mecrury Tracer LTS, 5spd, pw/pl, p moon/sunroof, got BPT! (Jap turbo version of the motor, stock 170 hp, not installed yet), I love these little cars, for those who don't know the LTS is the 4 door version of the Escort GT (stock Escort/Tracer 1.9 L Ford motor with 88 hp, GT/LTS 1.8 L DOHC Mazda motor with 127 mp), TOTAL SLEEPER, everyone thinks of the Tracers as total Grandma cars, which is what they were, how Mercury ever got any g-mas to pony up another three grand for the LTS is beyond belief, btw a lot of guys are running Escort GTs in auto cross all over the country, must be something to it. 93 Mercury Tracer Wagon, soon to get all of the same goodies that the LTS has, but will be more of a daily driver and hauling vehicle (not towing cars, but a small trailer to get stuff from Lowes, etc). 91 Mercury Tracer LTS, auto, solid car, FOR SALE b/c I'm keeping the other one. Let the flame war begin on my fondness for the Tracer. Bill.
