i agree, the new R6 is gonna be a tough competitor. over 120hp about 4krpms of good power and supposedly handles like a 250. can't wait to see these on the track. Suzuki's gonna need to step it up. can't wait for the new suz. to hit the showrooms.

That bike was made for the factory teams to improve on at the track. It was never meant to be a good street bike. It has the basic tools for a fast well BUILT RACE BIKE under the current rules and that's it! :(

Should still be a fun bike though.... :)

+1, except for the fun part - who wants to ride around everywhere at 14,000 RPMs?

I saw some dynos on sportbikes.net comparing the R6 to the 636 and the GSXR-600 - the R6 gets it's ass kicked EVERYWHERE except above like 14K RPMs.

Here is the SBN link:

And here is the dyno:

Look at how much the yammy is down to the 636 throughout most of the range - between 10 and 20 hp.

Translation - not a good street bike and it will spend a LOT of time getting beaten in street races. Granted the Kawi has a bigger engine, but compared to the GSXR-600, the R6 is down throughout almost the entire range except the last 2000 RPMs.

Ah...the Yamaha R6 - #1 choice of squids everywhere...

:wtf: You really think the R6 is the bike squids adopt most?

R6s have never been well filled out in the low range. The first gens had a wicked spike around 10K, but when it kicks in you better hold on.

The whole scenario about the rev issue is disappointing, but most street riders wouldnt take full advantage of those extra spins anyway. If you really want to rev to 17.5K, just buy the race kit ECU. plug, play, done.

Its still a hell of a bike, and I didnt hear the slipper clutch was a false claim yet.
