wheels are done!

they were supposed to come out a deep glossy black, it came out more of a very dark gunmetal. i thought it looked great (about anything would be better than before)...ended up being 320 to the powdercoater (200 for powdercoating, 40 to finish sandblasting the wheels the other guy missed and 70 to fix the other wheel up some from the curb rash...the wheel that had the rash you can still tell a tiny bit, but the powder filled it in a lot and now that the tires are on, you can hardly see it

ive got about 600$ wrapped up in these wheels between refinishing, tires unmounted/mounted, etc. to me, its worth it. they are 15x6.5" and only weigh 12lbs. the other thing i like about them is they fit nicely infront of my BBK (11" w/ a bigger single piston caliper over stock 10.1" and smaller caliper)

Looks cool! Don't take offense to this; is Hyundai actually making quick platforms now or is there a mod base growing or something?

no offense taken man. a lot of people have said worse things. its not that my car is a 'quick platform' per se, but the quality has been getting much better since the old days of the excel. i read somewhere a few weeks ago that the quality of their cars is starting to compete with toyota and honda. my car is about a 16.5 second car stock, and to this point ive gotten down to a 15.29. the v6 tib is a better platform w/ the 2.7l engine and with about 3-4 s/c kits available, its not hard to hit 280whp on stock internals, stock compression. the motor thats in my car is the same motor as the 4cyl 03 tiburons so it gives us an option for parts. there is a good amount of people into this car...check out http://www.elantraxd.com or http://www.elantraclub.com to check it out if you want

im hoping with these wheels (3lbs lighter than my lancer OZ wheels) and a ported intake manifold and phenolic spacer i may be able to break into the 14s at trails on the 9th. hopefully these fatter tires with some lower pressure will let me get a 2.1 60' and it should get me into the 14s. if i do, ill be the first person to do it (in america) n/a

What kinda wheels?

wheels are Nippon type-c. 15x6.5 w/ a 38mm offset

looks good for an elantra.. glad to see em on the car mang

thanks for gettin the tires mounted up for me

I'm not gunna lie that doesn't look too bad for a hyundai. Im still debating whether or not to get mine powdercoated, mine have some minor curb rash on them and I don't want to have to get them balanced again with the same tires.

thanks man. if you do decide to get them powdercoated, check out the consumer reports section for performance powdercoating. tell jason that evan with the black wheels sent you. the powder will fill in a lot of minor imperfections but for severe curb rash, itll be better to get them repaired before taking them to him. he really takes pride in his work and will not let stuff go until he is happy with it

The wheels look good! I think it'd look real good if you painted the chrome lining of the grille black.

yeah, grille is one of the next things on my list...im moving out in like 3 weeks so until i get a 2nd job, mod money will be almost non existant. ill probably have one of th guys on my board mesh out a grille and then ill sand down that chrome and paint it gloss black. tint should also be done this summer. im thinking of around 25% (ill take the risk)

its really not much performance mods...I/H/E and an UDP. stock the car comes w/ about 118whp on the 5speeds and right now im at around 140ish...whats sad is im probably one of the highest n/a hp elantras on any of the forums im on. the car is (manufactures rating) 2635lbs w/o fluids, so probably around 2750 or so. ill go get it weighed one of these days in track condition (no subs, no spare, less than 1/4 tank of gas)...im sure with me in it it should be about 2900lbs. without me, 2700

and remember, that dyno is a mustang dyno which reads less than a dynojet. im sure i could hit 140-142 on a dynojet

haha...25% is dark. i was thinking of doing 35% but then i my buddy came over with his 05 elantra w/ 20% and i was like...eh, its dark but not too dark.

the tint WILL be done by june 16th. we're having a big hyundai meet down in vinton county and have the vinton county airport rented out from fri-mon (i think...i know hes got it for the bulk of the weekend) and have probably 50 cars/more people coming from as far away as AZ, WY, TX, FL, quebec, saskatchewan...gotta have that done for the big meet

I checked the links - that is some pretty sweet stuff rolling around there that I did not anticipate seeing. What sort of mod are you looking to go with next?

i should be ordering a ported/polished intake manifold this week...waiting on the guy to get his core back and get it ported out. plugs/wires need to be changed soon so probably do that...maybe a BBTB, i have to get the midpipe of my exhaust redone (retard who had the header before me welded on the stock flex/cat and it has a nasty bend in it...need to get it fixed)...adjustable cam gears, accessory pullies, and if i can find a spare head and some extra cash im going to get the head ported/polished.

theres a company in korea starting to offer cams + ecu tuned for them which is the first time we've seen something like this for my engine, but its like 1350$ for intake/exhaust cams and ecu. i may go for that next summer if i still have the car

Is there a center cap option for those wheels? Staring at the castle nut is not a good look.

Not bad! Is there anyway you can cut into the bumper and get the muffler tucked up a little more? IMHO that muff has gotta disappear somehow.

While I'm at it...paint the rear brake drums silver to match the front rotors (even though some of the color will wear away on the rotors...my Corvette's drilled rotors were coated like yours).

Lastly, I highly agree with Mensan. Tint needs to be professionally applied NOW. :)

the wheels were bought used, and did not come w/ centercaps. ive emailed a seller on ebay 2x now trying to get a set. i know the castle nut looks like shit, and ive been trying to find the caps for like 2 weeks now

the muffler does need to be tucked in, but unfortunately the rear bumper on this car isnt made for an aftermarket muffler. if i could find a way or a place to do it for cheap and make it not look hacked, i would be all about getting it done. i dont like the way it hangs either. the company who makes the cat-back chose a crappy muffler for this car. their new design has a smaller less noticeable oval tip that looks better... if i could get 1/2 of it tucked into the bumper so the bottom of the bumper was a the 1/2 way point, i think it would look better

i was thinking about painting the rear drums silver, but i didnt want to make them stand out since...well, theyre drums.

tint will be done no later than june 12th. probably 25%ish
